[slm] dina,

there are alot of good tips on the internet, just do a search for 'interview tips'. some tips i can think of: dress very well and very formal (including down to ur shoes & select jewelery!), go thru those 'common interview questions' posted around and practice the answers, think of 3 good points about yourself ie experience, skills etc.. and work it into your answers even if the question is something else!, act 'confidant' and 'friendly' and 'open' even if ur not, be honest and urself, be sure to bring extra resumes, pens and paper, do some research on the company and prepare some questions to ask them when they say 'do u have any questions', and lastly be EARLY ...

and good luck inshaAllah :)

Be very careful about your body language - don't cross your arms over your chest, it can look as though you're being defensive about something.

Look at the interviewers while you talk to them, but don't stare.

Always tell the truth about stuff like hobbies - otherwise you could get caught out.

Think about your weaknesses - they may ask you what you think your weaknesses are.  Try to think about one that doesn't sound too negative and that you can say "but I'm working on that..." or "I've overcome this by..."

I know everyone says this but be yourself - it's easier to maintain that front :P

along similiar lines, believe in yourself.  Go in with a visualization of yourself and that THEY would be better off to hire you. Not arrogant but confident

I recently had a friend apply for a job. She did not have any of the official levels of qualifications. She went in with the idea of, even though she was nervous, of faking it.. meaning.. she projected that confidence. They were so impressed they hire her and changed the job description!

So know your strengths.. if there is new skill involved well you can learn it.  Basically employers want someone to produce for them. Think about what does the job needs.. someone who multitasks well or someone who does research projects? Does it require people skills? Yes all jobs usually do but if you are in an office researching on the internet vs. dealing with the public… big difference. Then you can highlight your strengths to meet the position.  As you said you can do the job.

Also you wrote about that they need a hardworking, motivated person. Your references support you. Have people who will back you up. If several people look good at the interview, they (if they are smart anyways) will check references.

It has helped me before I go in to something that is stressful, a presentation or anything like that I get myself into a very positive frame of mind. What makes you happy? Joyful. Pray, read some humor, whatever works for you. That can always make a difference.. people want to be around positive people. This will show in your body language and energy.

And..remember to breathe.

i really liked what Sara has posted, jazaK Allah khair Sara

I agree if one goes in a positive frame of mind and happy things do tend to work out

i can remember giving a presentaion years ago, i was so terrified of saying something stupid, would they be able ot hear me, can i answer their question ect...

a friend of mine said, you have to relax and remember you know more than anyone else in the room about your project, becuase you have reseached it. and remember to be confident, smile, have good body language  and you`ll be fine

so i went in very positive and got over 90% for my presentation with alot of postive feedback, even though i did not anwser all the questions

so am just praying to allah to help me make a good impression at my interview at least to last for 30-45mins with my interview panel

I have also decided, that i will do everything i can do to help my self, eg research the job description, practice the most common interview question, ask them at least two relevant question ect ect
if i get the job alhamdollilah and if i dont alhamdollilah
because allah swt will give me what is good for me and i will still have my current post and most of all i would have gained interview experince for the next time
