Insha'Allaah I'll be off in a couple of months time to Malaysia  :-*.  Insha'Allaah it'll be my home for the next two yrs  :). Obviously I'm psyched and was looking forward to doing ramadhan there, but I'm now going there after Eid, so I'll get to spend one more Eid with my family insha'Allaah here.

I just wanted to know if anyone can tell me where the best places are to do hijaab shopping there.  Also, I don't really eat meat (apart from fish), but I'm being told it will be difficult to find any veggie places.  Can anyone recommend any in kuala lumpur?

Many new in-depth news articles are discussing this 'fight for the soul of islam' ie liberalism vs fundamentalism. Do u think it's true that we are undergoing this struggle for who controls Islam?

Islam's Future Will Be Decided on Its Frontiers

Throughout much of the 1990s, when I was part of the intelligence community in Washington, we were not quite forbidden to consider religion as a strategic factor, but the issue was considered g methods exclude wine and lard etc.  But pls ask to double check.  They have tons of seafood places which specialises in fish, one of which is a place called Fisherman's Wharf.  They also have halal teppanyaki and tempura places which of course sell fish and chicken tempuras and teppanyaki.  U can go to places selling vegetarian food, but most of these places are run by Buddhists. If you have no qualms, dine away. Last but not least almost all restaurants and food places sell salad as one of their selections. One of your best bet is to go to the many many foodcourts they have in almost all their shopping malls and go to the Malay mixed rice stall.  There you can find a whole spread of dishes to eat with rice.  U can select rice and vegetable dishes.

As for shopping, you can get a whole plethora of mind boggling choices of hijab at cheap places situated all along Jalan Masjid India. They also have nice jilbabs and abayas. I go to PKNS Building in Shah Alam for my wonderful wonderful Islamic books, gorgeous and affordable jilbab and abayas.  Shah Alam is in Selangor so u might have to fork out a bit on taxi fare back and forth.

All in all, maybe sis NinthMuharram can help u better.

So, when are u coming over to MY side of the pond ?  ;)

Wassalam

I think  Umm Wafi has covered most of your question. You'll have such a great time shopping for hijab in places she has mentioned that the next complaint you have is "There are too many hijabs to choose!"

Drop me a msg or something. Let us (me and umm wafi)  know if you need more help. I don't live in KL but grew up there.

Don't  forget to visit the Islamic Museum!!!!

wasalam.

BarakAllaahu fiki dear sis Umm Wafi for ur tips, as well as ur kind offer  :-*.  Insha'Allaah if u ever need a babysitter... ;).  I pray that Allaah Protects u and ur lil beloved one, and that He Will Grant both of u much ease over the next few months, ameen.

Sis Maliha  :) ur more than welcome to come over when I'm out there, and the plan is I will be keeping a blog for ma friends who can insha'Allaah keep in touch with me that way and know what I'm getting up to.  Many of them would like to go to Malaysia too, and so it would be a good way of sharing my experiences with them.

Sis NinthMuharram, :), insha'Allaah I will contact u if I need any more help/advice.

May Allaah continue to Guide all of us :)

wa'salaam   :-)
