[slm] I wanted to begin a thread of herbal or homepathic rememdies that work... I recommend the following for coughs; A teaspoon of honey mixed with a pinch of cinnamon powder - eat every morn and evenning. If symptoms persist add this concoction to hot water and drink during the day (twice) OR consult your physician regarding any further problems. [wlm] Zara |

*skips in* Before I give you some of the *folk-medicine* I now know of, I'll tell you of the conditions in which I learnt them! This summer, I was uh.. fortunate enough to go to Libya. I usually don't become ill easily, and have not had to take medicine for a couple of years ( Alhamdulillah). However! The first week in Libya saw me ill for the entire week. EVEry visitor that stepped through the door gave me and the family a different remedy ^^;; There IS one which works a treat.. it's slightly similar to the one you mentioned Zara. However this one involved a mixture of 3 things: a teaspoon of olive oil, a teaspoon of natural honey and a teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. ^-^ Thing is, SubhannaAllah, it works! ( You do not want to know about the others believe me .. one involved having pieces of warm aubergine tied around my neck .. don't ask!) |

The honey, lemon juice and olive oil are a remedy for coughing. I THInk thats the rememdy you asked about ... If you meant the aubergines (o.o) they're for when one has a temperature and/or a tonsil problem.. Appearantly, they absorb all the extra heat.. somehow .. and according to my old auntie ^^;; |
