| [slm] There was a king who had a friend. This friend was in the habit of saying alhamdulillah to anything that happened to him. Whatever would happen whether it be bad or good, he would always say alhamdulillah (Praise be to allah). One day the king and his friend went out hunting. The friend gave the king a gun and the king aimed to shoot at something. Unfortunately the gun malfunctioned and the king lost his thumb. The friend saw this and said alhamdulillah. The king was angry and demanded why the friend said alhamdulillah. The freind said that that was what he said alhamdulillah to everything that happened. The king was furious at his apparent impertinence and threw him in jail. Gradually the friend was forgotten, and the king went on with his duties. Then the king one day was taking a journey and lost his way. He stumbled across cannibal territory and was taken prisoner by the vicious man-eating cannibals. They prepared him for their meal and then they noticed that he had'nt a thumb. The cannibals being civilized only ate perfect human biengs :P :D. So they let him go. The king shivering and scared went back to the castle. He then (upon re-examining his severed thumb and blessing in disguise) remembered his friend locked up. He rushed to the prison and released him, apologizing profusely. Upon hearing the kings apologies and story, he said allhamdulillah :). The king was surprised and asked him why he said so for being in jail. The friend replied that if it werent for him being in jail, he would have accompanied the king on the journey and gotten lost and would have been eaten by the cannibals instead :D. | Hehehe I HAD read this before somewhere but thanks for reminding me! It is , indeed, a beautiful thing when one is trULY a muslim and does *submit* to the Will of Allah and trusts in Him totally. Only then will you be able to say Alhamdulillah for everything, mean it, and (inshaallah) get the reward for it. Which is the whole objective behind Istikhara :p trusting in whatever path Allah chooses and not looking back even if the path chosen seems at the first instant, unfavourable ^__^ |
