[slm] someone has asked me the following question why is there such a long time scale from eid ul adha and eid ul-fitr??? why is the time scale shorter between eid ul-fitr and eid ul adha??? i didnt really answer the question....because in my mind eid-ul fitr is celebration for completing ramadan. eid ul adha celebration for completing hajj and those that did not go for hajj, we celebrate with them and to remember prophet ibrahim sacrafice. and for the distance between both eids is wisdom from allh swt so i guess that does not anwser the question does anyone have any knowledge about the above questions wassalam |

[slm] My post will come across as a bit harsh.. I do not mean it to be. What difference does it make that the celebrations are spaced the way they are? What is the real question? |

[slm] the only reason i asked was someone wanted to know if there was a reason and i said i dont know of one and gave the previous explanation and i was told that does not answer the question but i can just say why christmas and easter are at the distance they are...bcoz they are not actual dates of event they are fixed dates to coincide with holidays it was just for dawah purpose bcoz people have argued with me in the past we just follow the quran and never ask why we just beleive and never question and my reply is usually something like i know its the truth.....it makes sense to me ect ect ect |

[wlm] well they fall so close to each other simply because that is when ramadan occurs and that is when hajj occurs. maybe its not understandable to us in modern times because people try to change holidays so that they are spread out or that they are convenient for them.. ie moving holidays so it can be a 3-day weekend etc.. but interestingly in the olden times when going to hajj would take months and months.. people would arrive in makkah before ramadan... they would stay during all of ramadan and the next weeks until the actual hajj...and then stay a month after that as well! dina you can just tell them everything in Islam has a wisdom, sometimes we are able to ascertain the wisdom and sometimes we aren't, but as long as the conviction is there that this is from God then we accept that. you don't have to pull out every ruling in islam and try to analyze it to see if it makes sense to you as one person. sometimes rules are there for ALL people, or even all times.. sometimes if we can figure out the reason for a prohibition rulings can then be changed by scholars if the ruling becomes more harmful than beneficial(like when there is famine the punishment of stealing is not applied) and so why alcohol is banned to us is obvious in our times but maybe why pigs are banned is not so obvious unless you do some scientific research. |
