Does anyone know of any contemporary Majnoon?

Majnoon = A brother madly in love with a sister.  Also a story with a happy ending perhaps. ???

IS it true that Layla and Majnu were amongst the tabi'een and somewhere there is a copy of their real not so sensationailised story ?

Let me know if you know of a link to the story minus the movie dramatics.

contemporary majnoons do exist. Don't know of one who will tear his clothes and go out in the desert, but moaning and destroying one's chances of leading a normal life do happen.

The original Layla-Majnoon story isn't a happy one.

Majnoon is also just any mad person, comes from junoon.

I don't think so.

links; you may do a search. Sholud be available on the net.

Akbar Alahabadi wrote a lovely poem in Urdu: goes something like:

kaha majnoon sey yeh Layla ki maan ney
(Layla's mother said to majnoon)

keh beta gar tu kar ley BA pass
(that son, if you pass the BA exam)

biyah doon mein Layla ko tujh sey
(I will marry off Layla to you)

bilashak mein bun jaoon teri saas
(and certainly I will become your mother-in-law)

kaha majnoon ney yeh Layla ki maan sey
(Majnoon replied to Layla's mother)

bari bi tumhein kiya ho gaya hey
(O old woman, what has come over you)

bhala hiran peh bhi kabhi ladi jaati hey ghaas
(Does one ever load up a deer with grass)

............

kuja majnoon, kuja college ki bakwaas
(whither majnoon, whither the rubbish of college)
