The mare I told you all about is home with me now. The one someone just up and gave me. Had all her shots and tests before she came here. For a horse that has not been worked with much and has been pastured all her life( 6 to 7 yrs) she sure took to stalls and handling quite well. Many horse here seem so hyper and flighty. She must have a good mind on her as she did not get all upset at new things. Sadly she injured her leg during trailering. The cut seems like such a small thing and is healing well, however the swelling is much more than I would of guessed for such a small injury. Also going from a pasture to a stall could be causing the swelling so we are walking her a few times a day. I have already been studying blood lines and began looking at stallions in hopes of breeding her in Feb or March. Was already thinking of foal names (I do tend to get way a head of myself) :D What are Arabic names for: Gift Precious Fire (the color of her mothers mane and possibly a future foals) One who can be trusted I may post more later as I get ideas. I like to keep things in mind. I'll also post a pic after she is cleanned up and in better condition. I'll have to go look back at an earlier post, in her papered name is Sharaf and Hafiz which if I remember correctly one means trust and one means keeper. She sure fits that name in a way. many horses here I do not trust. I don't know if it is training or breeding. This little lady I trust. She is not a nut case as are some here. Maybe a name could be Bint (daughter) of a trustworthy one ;) |

There are several books out on Arabic names for horses. I owned and managed an 'Asil Arabian horse breeding farm for 20 years and took names from those books and from my trusty Arabic dictionary. Later found that I was right on some and wrong on others. If you really want to know, run them by a Muslim whose mother tongue is Arabic. Good luck. Oh... A word to the wise, Keep following those bloodlines for personalities! As the Bedu claim "'Asila will tell in the end!" Hope it helps! |
