| [slm] I realise this may be a fiqh question but I thought some of the knowledgeable amongst you may be able to help... I have heard that you should not pray while on drugs, because you are like in a drunken state. Is this also true for former drug addicts who are now on methodone which is prescribed to get them off the heroin? Difference is methadone is a prescribed drug while heroin is illegal. Thoughts anyone? wasalaam eleanor |

| [slm] Not really sure about the scholars' opinion on this kind of thing. It would seem to me that think that methadone is being prescribed as something to help cure addicts of their addiction. Therefore in some ways it is like any other medicine ??? |

| I asked someone who has knowledge of drugs not the fiqh part though. Methadone does not let the person feel drunken/high, while the other does. This gets the person the amount they need to not be in too much pain as they lesser the amount graduatingly. From what I understand if they are not high why they can't pray? They might actually find the comfort for whatever is going on not just obviously physically but what is coulped with it mentally and emotionally. I don't know for fact though. |
