[slm] Did anyone see the boxing tonight in the England V USA amateur boxing tournament? It was live on the BBC and british Muslim boxing superstar Amir Khan, who is only 17 years old was simply sensational! He totally dominated his American opponent who was also world class, and made him look like a beginner! I noticed Amir Khan just before the fight started went to his corner, and made Dua, before coming out to fight! This is a kid who has faith, and great talent, and inshallah will go a long way. We muslims need a young superstar in the spotlight as a role model to other muslims, and also as a symbol, to show the public that "look, this kid you cheer on and adhore is a muslim, he follows Islaam and is proud of it, so dont fall for all your anti muslim nonsense you read in your papers". This kid is absolutely brilliant. 17 years old only! Amazing! [wlm] |

Its nice to have a Muslim being in the spotlight as it can be a form of dawah. But then should it be by doing something Haram??? Boxing is haram as The Prophet (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) did actually say in the Sahîh of Imâm Bukhâri, "If anyone of you fights, let him avoid the face." This applies in real and 'entertainment' fighting. |

Nit Picking,....how can you say that. We follow Islam because it betters our lives in this dunya and helps us for the Akhirah. I'm sure there is a reason for this type of sport being haram. If A muslim boxer comes out of the sport with a deformed face or some some sort of illness as a result (Mohammad Ali - Parkinsons) then tell him it is just a sport, see what he says. |

[slm] Muhammed Ali says he never regretted what he done, he says it was destiny. Most boxers fully back boxing. Yes it has its risks, but so do ALL sports. More people are left crippled playing rugby than are crippled through boxing. Wrestling, which islaam allows, also causes serious spinal injuries. Driving a car has massive risks involved. Why not make that haraam? cars kill thousands every year. Well? Ban cars! |
