Dua of Yusuf in the Well...

I've been looking for this duaa that Hadhrat Yusuf (as) said when he was in the well, after being abandoned by his brothers. This is NOT a duaa from the Qur'an...

The one I'm looking for was one I heard at a halaqa 2 years ago (I know, how relevant, eh?). It's from a Hadith. The story goes that the angel Jiraeel told Yusuf (as) not to be sad, and then taught him the duaa. I could VERY loosely paraphrase it, but I don't want to pass on wrong information.

If ANYONE could help me out, it would greatly help me. JazakAllah Khair..

Wasalaam :)

i have no idea..maybe the person who i heard it from misquoted the the event?  because i totally remember a heartfelt discussion on the abandonment of his brothers.  :(

ah, you must be right though.

Hmm well if it's that:
The Dua of Dhun-Nun (Yunus) by which he invoked Allah from
within the belly of the whale was:  "LAa ilaha illa
Anta, Subhanaka innee kuntu min aDH-DHaalimeen."
No Muslim ever makes Dua with it but Allah
answers it." [at tirmidhi in his sunan, ahmad
and hakim reported it and hakim declared it
           authentic and adh dhahabee agreed]

JO is right. I did not know this before, but the dua of sayyidna yusuf is mentioned in tafseer al-qurtubi (for surat yusuf of course).  i looked it up at al-islam.com.  the tafseer did not mention an isnad or whether this was revealed by a hadith to start with. ?

the arabic text is below.  don't ask me to translate!  i will just give the english transliteration:

Cool! I never knew about the Yusuf (as) dua...

Here's a general translation inshaAllah..

O Allah
O Friend of the stranger
and
O Companion of the lonely
and
O Refuge of the fearful
and
O Remover of the sorrow
and
O Knower of the secrets
and
O Caretaker of the complaints
and
O Present of the assemblies
and
O Eternal
O Everlasting

Cast your hope (ie. hope of Allah) in my heart
so that there is no grief unto me

and do not occupy (me with) other than you
make this for me an opening and escape from my problems

Verily you have power over all things
