Hi
Can anyone tell me what the sun's relevance is to praying? I believe you have to prayer before sunrise and sunset.

Thanks

Hi Angelic  8)
Long time no hear ;) Hope you're doing well.
The morning prayer (fajr) needs to be done before the sun rises.  The time frame starts approximately an hour and a half before the sun actually appears.  The evening prayer (maghreb) is to be prayed right after the sun sets, but again, you have a time frame of about an hour and a half after sunset to pray it before the time for Ishaa comes in, which is prayed when it's fully night-time.

Hi
I'm doing OK thanks.  My interests are still there but no improvement with my situation.

I was actually wondering why fajr for instance has to be performed before the sun rises, what is the importance of the sun here, because other prayers are done during the day what makes praying before the sun rises so significant?

All the prayer times are determined by the sun's position.  The mid-day prayer time comes in right after the sun has passed its zenith, and the mid-afternoon prayer (asr) is when your shadow is as long or twice as long (depending on different schools of thought) as you are.
It doesn't have anything to do with the sun per se, it's just that the sun's position is the best way to keep time during the day.
