| wlm, hey sis.. there have been tons of attempts like this... from our times to before and even during the time of the prophet [saw] there were people claiming to be new prophets and so on... i think we should just ignore it... especially when we don't live in kuwait and can really do nothing about it... publicizing it and getting all up in arms just gives them more publicity and makes more people interested in it and may actually have the adverse affect of legitimizing it!! probably the best we can do here is urge people and our organizations to write to the publishers to tell them how offensive it is, although i doubt they care except for selling more of them to make more money actually in recent years there seem to be more and more anti-islam books published.. and honestly i don't think it's because "people hate islam" and want to read more hate books about it. it's because certain groups.. gov't or private (like missionaries) have a certain agenda.. in certain cases they are completely financing the publication and publicity. in fact, i believe that this was admitted to be a legitimate tactic by the rand corporation and some other key high level gov't task forces. i remember how a couple years ago they started some websites claiming to have answered the verse in the quran that says no one can create a surah (chapter) like a surah of the quran... they called it 'a surah like it' and they claimed to write surahs like the quran.... and of course muslims got all upset and started publicizing it everywhere, but if you actually went on there and read it, it was really laughable!! they were actually surahs taken from the Quran but wherever Allah was mentioned they replaced it with Christ and wherever the prophet saw was mentioned they replaced it with Jesus, etc...!!! so a surah like it??? umm yeah right... and seriously did anyone actually read the Quran...there is nothing like it... it is Divine in all aspects... in rhythm, rhyme, tone, language, linguistics, history, message, guidance, legalities... people pick up this Book read a few verses and are struck to their souls... there is nothing humanly written that can even come close to it... so instead of getting all upset we should just laugh and pity these people |
