| Assalamo elikuim I am *thinking * of buying a digital camera and definitely need some help:) Which brand is better to buy Canon, Kodak, Sony , Nikon,Fuji or Minolta? I know to get better photos it should be 4 Mega Pixel or higher ? What else should I look for? There are couple of camera on sale at best buy but which is better (quality,price)? Thanks tq |

| [slm] I totally love the Canon S-series.. i think the latest is s500. They are small compact, durable, and excellent quality. They can be very pricey tho... For non photography hobbiest type ppl i think all the sony cybershots are good quality for the money!! They do have 5, 6 megapixels nowadays, but really u don't really need to go that high.... |

| [slm] Don't know much about cameras... I own a nicon coolpix 2100. It gets real blurry the higher you zoom in, but normal zoom gets a nice clear picture. p.s. that photo(the one about the biketrail view) in my profile was taken by the camera. For full effects right click on the photo and select 'set as desktop background' or something to that effect. p.p.s ebay would probably have better deals. Don't count on it though. [slm] |

| [slm] You should buy at least 5 or 6 megapixels. It makes a difference also in the lenses used. Canon and Minolta's are good, they are known for their lenses. |

| bhaloo, what do u need that many megs for unless ur printing out huge pics or poster size stuff?? tq i don't know the quality of kodak nowadays... i can't believe how cheap the s500 is nowadays!! http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=10041812&whse=BC&topnav=&cat=3264&hierPath=79*3264* it used to be $500 just maybe 6 months ago... that would be my recommendation... but i guess u would need to buy more memory and an extra battery and a carrying case so the cost ends up going up.. |

I have one of those sony cybershot ones..5megapixels...decent zoom etc..sometimes I wish I bought a canon just because.... or one of those high end slr digital cameras. But alas, I'm a very very amateur/take pictures just for fun and to capture the moment wherever I be. I'm not trying to show case any pictures at a gallery anytime soon. And if youre in the same boat- that kodak is MORE than fine!!! But yeh, even with 5 megapixels sometimes I wish I had like 6 or 8 -perhaps thats just greed. But Jannah, you are right , 4-5 is just fine! |

| [slm] $350 is too much for that camera, S500. I can get it to you for under $300, and that's shipped to your door. As a general rule, if anyone is interested in buying cameras (weather they be video or digital) buy it from New York. Go to www.mysimon.com and it will find the cheapest price for you for the camera all across the US. You will see that the New York stores are much cheaper. I don't know about Kodad, don't have experience with them. But like I said you want to get at least 5 or 6 megapixels, 5 at the minimum. When you make 5x7 or 8x10 pics, you'll see what I mean. |

| [slm] Yeh you can get that camera for under 300...Dont settle for more. Good point Bhaloo..never tried to make large prints yet...so very very good point . So TQ no less than 5megapixels! one question bro, are those cameras all non refurbished etc? thanks |

| Assalamo elikuim Jazak Allah khair for all the replies. Br. Bhaloo my brother said the same thing that $350 is too much for a camera. He said to look at ebay but I havent bought anything from them ever so I dont know.... And also this Kodak one comes with 512MB and also a camera dock. Sr. Jannah, you are right canon are best but the cost !!!! Sr. lala marcy, I will be basically taking my kids photo and printing and/or emailing them to family/friends. Thats what basically everybody said 5MP or higher. Wasalam tq |

| [slm] Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the things on EBAY used? The site I mentioned looks at retail stores all over the US. I have 256 megs myself and in the highest resolution I think I can save 55 pics. But once you take a bunch of pics, just unload and save them to your computer. I don't think you need 512 megs unless you go with an 8 mega pixel plus camera. |

| salaams, sometimes the ebay items are not used. But thats something you need to verify with the seller. Never bid on a big ticket item without knowing all the facts on it! |
