Lord of the Rings, lessons within

when i finaly watched the third part of Lord of the Rings I couldnt help seeing parellels with Islam all the way through it.  A couple of things that stuck with me the most are:

Frodo's journey with the Ring
+ only he could carry the ring, no one else - it reminded me of my own faults and my struggle to overcome them.  No one else can carry my burden. I am responsible for my own jihad-an-nafs
+ Sam was always there to help - it is always important to a friend there. He can't carry your 'ring' but he can carry you when the burden becomes heavy
+ the closer he got to the mountain, the more difficult it was to rid himself of the ring.  I kept think about how much Shaytaan tries to make our lives more difficult the closer we get to our spiritual destination.  And just when you are about to throw your desires into a raging river of lava, you become so attatched to them that you alsmost can't let go...

The return home
+ the hobbits felt like strangers after their quest - we truly become 'strangers'  to everyone when we try to change ourselves: the things that used to entertain us, become painful nuisances; our friends who used to share the same interests, now seem to be obsessed with frivolity; the world around us is a painful reminder of what we used to be, and how disconnected we are with our Creator

The Orks and the Uruk-hai
+  they were really disgusting, inside and out - at the beginning they were really intimidating by their seeming power and cohesiveness.   But snapshotsof how they treated each other (always arguing and displeased, ready to kill the other at the drop of a dime, ...) reminded me that there is no Power nor Might except with Allah.  Shaytaan and his helpers may appear powerful, but in reality, they are miserable
