InshAllah I hope to be able to spot the moon here in The San Francisco BAy Area tonight after Maghrib...you should look for it too. It's fun. It's cool. It's Dick-Clark and Big-Ball-Drop Free and NO fireworks! woo hoo! Happy Hijri New Year folks, sisters and brothers, and googlebots too as they cache this webpage for posterity. Salam, your giddy bro near SFO, ~ HiMY! ~ We now return you to your gregorian calendar. |

AsalamAlayKum, Peace and e-Greetings be upon you. 27 minutes ago from night now, that is at 6:03 pm PST, I saw the crescent moon from Here in Fremont California, Here are photos on my website I just uploaded. They are RAW jpgs, forgive the blurriness, but I uploaded ten of the better captures. Clicking on each thumbnail twice will get you to the full size of the photo, where the hilal is much clearer than the default computer screen friendly size: http://tyo.ca/islambank.community/modules/gallery/moonsighting Photos 'g' and 'i' seem to be the best candidates for photographic confirmation: http://tyo.ca/islambank.community/modules/gallery/moonsighting/2005_02_09_Fremont_California_Muhharram_1_1426_g?full=1 http://tyo.ca/islambank.community/modules/gallery/moonsighting/2005_02_09_Fremont_California_Muhharram_1_1426_i?full=1 The thin crescent is just above the point of the tree to the right of the utility pole. The crescent as you can see began at about 3 o'clock and extended clockwise until about 6:30-ish, if I may put it that way. I also brought my two nephews, Nazar and Bashar and their friend Junaid, we all witnessed the Muharram Moon for 1426 with our naked eye from here in Fremont California at 6:05 pm PST. The sky above the horizon is cloudy, but above that, the sky is cloud free. I spent about 5 minutes looking for the moon fearing it was behind the clouds already. Because of the thinness, it took that long to spot it. Salam and Happy Hijri New Year! HiMY SYeD |
