| Hi! I recently joined and was wondering few things about islam. Enlighten me if you will. Is it allowed in islam to laugh and have fun? Kind of seems like a serious religion to me. Thanks. |

| Hi, Islam is no doubt serious but there is alot of humor in it. For example, we had a thread of humorous hadith (traditions of the prophet). Across the Muslim world, there is a rich tradition of stories with characters like joha (nasuraddin hodja) etc that are particularly funny. (I think we had a thread of those too somewhere) |

| Wow! I really like that to see muslims who are jovial. I am happy to see that at least I can hang out down here. Hope I can make plenty of friends. Although I do have a lot of questions to ask about Islam. I will stifle my curiosity a little. Anyway, I can't resist asking. But is there something about jokes for muslims? Or do you know of any site where muslims can have fun? (I think I am having fun on this site......ahem!) I don't believe in making fun of anyone. But I like to make others laugh and to cheer them up. So, I have my very own web site for good clean jokes. It's called jokist.com I particularly love the "signs" in the "must read" section and I think you will too. I don't want to offend any muslims however. So if the content of that site is not to your liking, could you please let me know, so that I can make the necessary modifications? I'm dying to get some feedback. Thank you so much. P.S I hope I can meet some more muslims here who are not so serious as some muslims I know. I mean, it is hard to get along with someone who is always grim. Don't muslims ever smile??????????? |

| Hey If we weren't allowed to be fun and to think things are funny, and to try to be funny (which I sometimes do)...I don't know man... Life would be kinda dull. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) used to joke around too. Peace. |

| How do you do mate! You're from England heh? I wanted to go there but landed here in America instead. Not complaining though. My sis tells me the weather there is kind of like the same as it is here in the North West. You know about How many Fs there were? I blew that one. Ok now. Don't laugh. I don't know how to ask that's all! I was wondering if muslim boys wear suits for special occassions. Or do they just wear something traditional? I mean is it against the religion to wear suits or what? The muslims I know wear something like long gownish. Do you guys celebrate Valentine's day? |

| [slm]... Hello Fiery. Bet you didn't know you were 15-20 minutes away from me. So to answer your questions: Yes. We do smile. Hpowever, if you meet me on the street or at a function, I'm most of the time one of those that don't smile. It's because I'm focused on something. But if I'm just hanging out, i'll be smiling. No we do not celebrate Valentine's day. It's a Pagan thing with Cupid and all...so no Valentine's day, but that does not stop us from loving our spouses. Us women still want the occasional flowers and chocolates, etc. Unless, the woman is me who prefers orchids and sandwiches or salad over roses and chocolates. Suits are not forbidden unless it's tight fitting or transparent. They are allowed to wear suits, but most of the men here in my community where tradional clothing when they are in here. Outside, it's jeans. The older men are traditional. Most arab men wear the long shirts that goes down to the knees. I don't want to call them dresses becuase I don't want to call it the wrong thing. | I was wondering if it was compulsory for women to wear that head cover. I know of many muslims women who don't wear it. Is it okay? I guess I should have asked this question in another thread. But I do have a funny thing to share: EAT, DRINK AND BE MERRY FOR TOMORROW YOU MAY DIET. |
