The Cool Breeze from Hind
by Jaihoon
published by Olive Publications

Salam,

Ok this is a long promised write up on Jaihoon's new book. This is the third of the books I think he's published. He has two others called "Egoptics" and "Henna for the Heart".  You may have read some of his poems from those on the board in the Sahahdah forum.

This new book is entitled "The Cool Breeze from Hind". The book is made up of chapters describing his travels through the Muslim world, ie in the middle east as well as India.  Some are about current things, some about the past.  I enjoyed reading about his travels. It is truly like poetry but written in a narrative style. There are also stories and experiences and feelings. Some of the references are difficult to decipher and of course if you don't know all the the different languages, u'll be missing out, but it's worth spending some time and reading each page as if it is its own poem and understanding it all.

The book includes references to history, islamic history, palestinian history, india, arabia, english, arabic, hindi, keralese, etc. It took me a long time to read through it but I wanted to soak it all up so check it out y'all ;) here's to madina writers being published!! []
