Black (2005) Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali You've never seen an Indian movie like this... This is simply one of the most superb movies ever made. From the first gut-wrenching scene to the last your heart is just pulled out until you're just sitting there a mess and the haunting end music is playing and the credits are running. I cried from beginning to end, but maybe that's just me :) The storyline of the movie follows a young girl, who like Helen Keller, is born blind and deaf. The whole movie is about the struggle of her teacher to make her understand and live a life of dignity. It's just truly beautiful. The only thing I found kind of odd was that the actors who were Indian like Amitabh and Rani Mukherjee spoke English so much of the time. And the family was Christian and I think it was set in the early 1900s? But maybe it makes an odd kind of sense at the end... because they are trying to dipict a certain story in a certain time. There's also a scene I thought was kind of inappropriate and I think they could have done without..u'll know when you see it.. But it is well worth seeing, very well worth seeing .. some movies u just watch, some movies entertain, and some movies... they do what movies are supposed to do.. portray a story in such an emotional, powerful way that it changes how you see life... |
