| I wanted to tell the sisters about a neat group called Project Linus. Their website is www.projectlinus.org There are many groups/chapters around the US. They make blankets for children that are ill, traumatized or otherwise in need. Since I have a small sewing business, one of the items I make has 2 13x 5 or 6 inch waste. I have hundreds of these little pieces I have saved over time. Yes I tend to be a pack rat, don't want to throw usable things away. I was going to list them on ebay and sell one giant lot of scraps for quilting. Then Project Linus was brought to my attention. I went to the above website, found a chapter in my area and WOW they wanted the fabric pieces and were so thankful and appreciative. During a long conversation I was invited to attend and help at the blanket making get togethers. I was also told the chapter made many blankets which were sent to places like Afganistan and other such places. This stuck up an Islamic/Muslim conversation. After mentioning that was quite generous I asked if the blankets were of character fabrics and fabrics with images. They had no idea such blnakets may be discarded or not accepted due to this, but I was not able to say for sure. This was an opportunity to educate them in such matters. I was thanked and was asked what would be appropriate in the future for Muslim populations. As blankets are sent to hospitals also. If anyone sews and this interests you, They take donations of fabric, there are blnaket making get togehters, you can make a blanket or blankets with other sisters and donate them. Also one may want to educate chapters in their area so if a Muslim child is in a local hospital there can be some Islmaically appropriate. |

| [slm] Mashallah that's a really great cause. I have lots of spare fabric from my butchered attempts at skirt-making. Shukran for the website, I'll contact my local chapter. |
