Please if anyone finds it objectionable, do tell me and I will remove the joking parts.

The Arab and the Camel

There is a modern lesson in this story. Can you decipher it?

Once there was an Arab, and his inseparable companion, the Camel, because we are talking of the Arab of old, not the modern-day urbanised Arab, who travels in his air-conditioned Mercedes (or more likely these days, the Toyota Corolla).

and as we know the Arabs lived in the desert, or at least travelled in it.

We also know that they live in tents.

So this day the Arab was in the desert in his tent, when the desert breeze started getting stronger. Soon it became a strong wind.

The Camel which had been tied to the tent on the outside, put his head in and said to the Arab: "Master, this wind is too strong for me, and the sand is getting in my eyes, will you please allow me to shield my head against the sand by keeping it inside the tent."

Now this was a good-natured Arab, and also true to the Arab tradition of hospitality, so he allowed his camel to keep his head inside the tent.

After some time, the wind got even stronger and a sandstorm started brewing.

The Camel withstood it for a while, then said to the Arab: "Master, the neck is hurting like anything. This sand is getting into my neck, please allow me to bring the neck in as well. There is enough space in the tent for that."

The Arab saw the discomfort of his Camel, and agreed to the Camel's request.

After some more time, the wind really started blowing, and the Camel found it necessary to ask for more favor.

"Master", he said, "I would like to bring in my front two feet as well, since the sand is beginning to bite on those."

The Arab gave up his relaxing position, so the Camel could shelter his front feet.

After a while, the Camel asked to bring in the front half of his torso inside, and did so without waiting for an affirmative answer.

After some more time, the Camel said to the Arab: "My body is feeling the difference between the front half being sheltered in the tent, and the back half being outside in the storm, so I am going to bring in the back half as well, but don't worry, I will keep my hind legs outside so there is room for you."

Saying that, the Camel brought in the back half inside the tent, and the Arab had no choice but to squeeze himself in a corner.

As the sandstorm increased in ferocity, the Camel could stand it no more, and told the Arab in a cross tone: "Arab, make way for my hind legs. I cannot keep them outside forever."

Saying that the Camel brought his hind legs in, so that now the Arab and his Camel were both inside the tent, but the Arab was quite squeezed in.

After some more time, the Camel said sternly to the Arab: "Arab, I have been tolerating you for a long time now, but there simply isn't space in the tent for both of us". Saying that he kicked the Arab out of the tent, and spread his legs.

I think i heard this joke sometime last year.  ;D Had my ribs-aching. lol. But it was really good. I think the lesson might have been,
Too much hospitality just isn't good for you. or rather
Put a limit to everything you do (i.e. stand up for yourself at times).

I hope more of those will be coming soon.

actually, this is an insult to all camels of the world  :P

camels are cute and very dependable creatures.  they would never "occupy" any "tent" by any means, not to mention by deceipt!

take care
wassalam

ps. i hope it is obvious, but no offence taken - other than feeling that camels are being slighted here ( no pun intended of course  ;D)

Es_Selam'un Aleykum ve Rahmetullahi ve Berakatuh,

For my opinion, there is no insult in the story which we read from the writing of a brother, for taking a insult, the writer's character is also too important, this brother is one of the trusted characters of this board as i have seen from the days while he was in Hajj,Mash'Allah,no offend...

I want to add some more things about the camels from the ayats of Surah Al-Hajj...Let's read:

022.036
YUSUFALI: The sacrificial camels we have made for you as among the symbols from Allah: in them is (much) good for you: then pronounce the name of Allah over them as they line up (for sacrifice): when they are down on their sides (after slaughter), eat ye thereof, and feed such as (beg not but) live in contentment, and such as beg with due humility: thus have We made animals subject to you, that ye may be grateful.

Dear friends,as you know that camel is a so strong animal, may be more strong than a bull. Please think on the ayat why they do not defend their lives in the time sacrifice?.As we know that the other animals make so much troubles while in the time of sacrifice also while they have no power..but,we see from the ayat that the camels obey to Allah as an sign of Him while in the time of sacrifice...isn't it amazing?...have you ever seen a camel in the time of sacrifice, they don't do anything!,one person can easily sacrifice...it is a great sign of Allah.I love these animals, they remind me Allah....

Mahad, the lessons you have drawn are very valid. The reference, however, was to Palestine.

:) camels of the world, unite!
sister Mona leads a charge of camels against helpless timbuktu :)

actually, I love camels.

Iqbal once said:

kehnay lagey: oont hey bhadda sa janwar
achchee hai gai, rakhti hai kiya nokdaar seeng!

He (the Englishman) said: the camel is such an ugly animal
look at the cow, what a sharp set of horns it possesses!

This was a commentary on the preference given by the British government to the Hindus over the Muslims in the sub-continent.

bro Suleyman, Thanks for the lovely bit of info on the camel.  And no need to defned me here. sister Mona was enjoying the joke. You should too.
