| [slm] An organization my sister volunteers at. http://www.sakhi.org/ Seems like they do good things. This can be of use to those interested in volunteering, needing help, referring others for help, or whatever. I only posted this b/c I've seen threads about domestic abuse etc and thought this could be of use. Thanks! |

| [slm] I had taken a course on the Epidemiology of Domestic Abuse as part of my masters curriculum,as far as I can remember the rates are sadly high and uniform for most ethnicities Since SAKHI(female friend in Hindi) is an organization which helps South Asian women their statics show a higher propotion of women from these ethinicities as compared to other women In Albany Alhmadullilah they are a few Shelters /organizations like the Equinox house and the Mercy home which help these women other orgnaziations http://www.ncadv.org/ address these issues among a broader mix of ethinicities ,also If Iam not mistaken there is an ISNA subgroup which assists Muslim women who undergo domestic abuse /intimate partner voilence (IPV) [wlm] |
