slm,

welcome to episode 1 of the AMAZING RACE!!!! Yes we are all gathered here at the gate of the Madina with the 16 teams. It is snowing with a cool blue sky here in Madina. (Sorry for being a little late, some of us thought 12 midnight meant 12 Muslim time ;)) Anyway amazing audience!!! thanx for joining us!!!

Teams, you have exactly 7 days from this post to find the answer to the clue for destination 1... and here it is...

[code] A prophet prayed in this unique place of worship which was never prayed in before or after him by any person. [/code]

All the teams must race there and tell me Phil (admin) where this is.  On your mark get set... salam!!!

slm,

and welcome to the first episode of............

THE AMAZING RACE !!!!!

Here we are in the middle of the OCEAN near the famous city of Nineveh, the city of Prophet Yunus (Jonah) ...yup you guessed it ... the answer to our first destination was In a Whale!!

Best written answer goes to....

Team Chocolate-tree:

[code]
THe prophet that prayed in a place where no one before/after him ever prayed is Prophet Yunus (as) in the belly of the whale.
------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------
He said this dua, ""La ilaha illa
Anta, Subhanaka innee kuntu min aDH-DHaalimeen."
No Muslim ever makes Dua with it but Allah
 answers it."
He also fell into prostration in the belly, saying, "O my Lord! I have made a place of prayer, where no body else has ever worshipped You."
[/code]

Well amazing audience let me tell you that most of the teams are off to a great start!!! But aren't you be surprised about the first leg of the race!!! 15 of the 17 teams made it to the end... but we are still waiting for the last two who forgot the start date!?? The first team in was 'Dixie Muslims'... but boy was it tooth and nail there for awhile... Check out the current scores ;)

I thought this would be an easy one but apparently it comes with alot of controversy!!!...

I did accept the answer of Zakariyah in the tree he prayed in which was later sawed in half.

However, the answer of "jannah" is not correct because there will be people in jannah who "pray".... the answer of "baitul mamoor" is not correct as one day inshaAllah the ppl of jannah are to make tawaf there as well i thought... the tough one was whether to accept "sidratul muntaha" as a correct answer...however we don't really know what sidratul muntaha is... some say it is a tree that covers the entire paradise, some say it is just a lote tree in the 7th heaven, some that it is at the end of the 6th heaven leading to the 7th... it's just something that is from the unseen. we don't know its nature or even location or what it is or who's been there or anything. We know "no one can go beyond it", but like the prophet [saw] prayed there, could others have prayed there before him? or will anyone pray there after the prophet [saw] Allah knows best!!!

As for Yunus (as)... no one was said to have prayed in a whale before him or after him... as for an ordinary person they will die with all the whale stomach acids if they even tried!! so it won't be possible as this was a miracle just for Yunus!!!

okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Amazing Teams and Audience!!! Congrats on reaching your first destination....

and May Allah be with you for the second............ ;)

wlm, This is your host Phil signing off.....Tune in next time to see who is closer to winning the........

AMAZING RACE!!!!

[slm],

I think we can contest the decision about sidratul muntaha, but it might mean a little more research for which I (and it seems bro labeeb also) don't have time. I knew the question was straight from "Lives of the Prophet" series by Sh. Anwar Awlaki but my brother labeeb convinced me the answer was not that. Oh well! Next time inshaAllah we will remember to ask for directions if we know how to  ;-)

wlm,

yes i think it would be difficult to prove....b/c u'd have to prove that no one has prayed there before the prophet saw and that no one will pray there ever after him and to know that you have to know what sidratul muntaha is exactly... and that is something from the unseen that we will never exactly know... better to let it go and focus on the next one's..... i think the last amazing race missed a few but was able to win b/c of their dedication... tortoise & the hare? ;)

I didn't know that the Prophet [saw] actually prayed while at (or beyond) sidratul muntahaa!?  I thought he conversed with Allah (swt).  Where does it say that he prayed there as well?

[slm],

[quote] I didn't know that the Prophet  actually prayed while at (or beyond) sidratul muntahaa!?[/quote]

The Prophet  [saw], recited the first part of tashahud and I think it could be classified as a form of prayer and then he prayed for himself and all "Ibadillahis Saliheen" after Allah (swt) said Salam to the Prophet  [saw]. And as for conversation with Allah part, what is prayer anyway? I have also heard narrations about him being in sujood (but not sure about authenticity etc.).

The question did not ask about if anyone else would pray again in that place (future), but since even Jibraeel couldn't pass that point, it can be deduced that no one else had been allowed beyond that point before the Prophet [saw]? But anyhow, since we can not really define Sidratul Muntaha as a "place" since its from the unseen and the Prophet  [saw] perhaps was beyond the 4 dimensional limitations of time and space I can understand  that technically we might not be right on our answer  ;-). Can you guess that we have no clue about the second episode yet?
