Consider this a warm- up for the Madina Amazing Race:

I am developing a diversity puppet show using the book "If the World was a Village."  Below is an excerpt.

There are some statistics I can not find. If you come across these while searching for answers please let me know! I have spent alot of time trying to find this info and unable to:

1. The ages of our Muslim population in the world. Somewhere I read that our population age is very young.
2. The educational levels of Muslims in the world or the number of Muslim children that go to school.
3. Population numers of Muslims in the past. Say in the years 700,1000,1500,1900

I am trying to think of a food statistic. The book used number of specific animals  per population.

Help please!

Excerpt:

If the Islamic World Was a Village
the sequel to “If the World Was a Village”

Welcome to the global village.  Earth is a crowded place and it is getting more crowded all the time.  As of January 2002, the worlds population was 6 Billion, 200 Million.  Almost one quarter, 24%, of the people are Muslim, those who follow the Islamic faith.

Numbers like this are hard to understand but what if we imagined the whole population of the world as a village of 100 people?  In this imaginary village each person would represent about 62 million people from the real world.  The book “If the World Was a Village” is written about people from all over the world.  In one section the author talks about Religions from all over the world.  In a village of 100 people:

Religions
32 are Christians
19 are Muslims
13 are Hindus
12 practice Shamanism and other folk religions
6 are Buddhists
2 belong to other global religions such as Bahia Faith, Confucianism, Sikhism, etc...
1 is Jewish
15 are non- religious

Nineteen people out of 100 in the global village are Muslims.  In the real world there are 1.5 billion Muslims.  The number is 1,500,000,000.  Muslims come from all over the world. Today we want to make an Islamic village of 100 Muslims.  So in the imaginary Islamic World we have 100 Muslims each person representing 15 thousand people from the real world.

One hundred Muslims fit nicely into a small village. By learning about the Muslims- who they are and how they live- perhaps we can find out more about our neighbors and friends in the real world.

Ready to enter the Global Muslim village?  Come and meet the people of the Islamic Global Village.

Populations
The world’s population is growing every day at a rate of 2.3% per year.  The rate of the Muslim population is growing at a rate of 2.9% per year.  In 1996 the number of Muslims was 1,485,739,683.  In the Global Village that equals 100 Muslims.  Every year the number increases:

2001 there were    1,528,826,134 Muslims or 102 in the Global Village
2002 there were    1,573,162,092  Muslims or 106  in the Global Village
2003 there were    1,618,783,792 Muslims or 109 in the Global Village
2004 there were    1,665,728,522 Muslims or 112 in the Global Village
2005 there are       1,714,034,649  Muslims or 115 in the Global Village
2006 there may be 1,763,741,654 Muslims or 119 in the Global Village
2007 there may be 1,814,890,162 Muslims or 122 in the Global Village
2008 there may be 1,867,521,977 Muslims or 126  in the Global Village
2009 there may be 1,921,680,114 Muslims or 129 in the Global Village
2010 there may be 1,977,408,838 Muslims or 133  in the Global Village

There may be 2 Billion Muslims in 2011, that would be 137 Muslims in the Global Village!!

Hello!  As salaamu alaykum!  Ahlan!  Marhabah!
The Global Villagers greet one and another in a babel of tongues.  What languages do the people of the Muslim world speak? In the world there are over 6000 different languages.  In the Muslim Village, Muslims say hello in over 60 different languages.

To say hello to a person in China you would say: NeeHaOW
