I have been holding Quran tafseer classes in our masjid in East Brunswick, New Jeresy for several months.  By the grace of Allah SWT, we started recording these sessions, and have now uploaded them to the internet.  You can find the latest lectures at http://www.rigelcomputing.com/reading.  CRITICAL feedback is appreciated.

I thought you all knew I was a brit!  Keep mentioning it all the time.  Yep, born and brought up in Battersea, South London (or should I say Suff London with 2f's?).  Been living in the US for almost 12 years now.

Arabic grammar, taught myself  over the years.  Took a long time though.

Looking for some CRITICAL feedback, I want to improve it as much as I can Inshallah.

Anyway thanks all for the kind words.

wlm,

k i take it back i think ur accent is half joisey :) the question is if u have an accent do ur kids pick up the accent!!?

ok critical feedback... i think the word by word translation is good, especially if ppl are interested in the grammar/arabic aspect, but if they're not... it might be not beneficial for them...  and how about adding a general kind of introduction/conclusion type thing about the surah as a whole, like why/when was it revealed, what is it's importance what is the main theme it is talking about... kind of like what  In the Shade of the Quran does in the beginning for every surah... also where are u taking your tafsir from... i know the Ibn Kathir (the 10 vol english one) is pretty comprehensive too.

Thanks for the advice.  I did what you said, and used RealProducer to convert them to real audio files.  However, they still are getting downloaded in thier entirerty before real player gets launched.  How can you force them to stream?

Use variety of sources for tafsir: Ibn Kathir, In Shade of the Quran, Maududi's Tahfeem Al Quran, Farhat Hashmi's audio lectures.

wlm,

what you do is create a text file with a .ram ending. the only thing in the file is the exact URL to the .rm file

then just link to the .ram file and it will stream...

for example... if i have quran.rm on my server i will create a quran.ram text file and put as the first line in it:

http://www.jannah.org/quran.rm

then i will create the link to go to  a  href="quran.ram"

The first part of Surah Al Alaq has now been uploaded to the Quran Taleem site at www.rigelcomputing.com/reading.  The format of the files has been been changed to streaming audio: this should makes things a lot quicker for dial up users Inshallah.  Jazak Allah for the how-to, Jannah.

I can see from the stats that they've been quiet a few downloads (espcecially from Albany for some reason!), but I'm not getting any feedback except from Jannah.  I'd really appreciate any critical comments for the sake of self improvement.
