| Okay I am outraged as a sister yes. This is a sticky subject so I will mind my manners. This book written by a a posthumous Dutch author and propagated by former sister who has rejected Islam has now wormed its way on to my television. Images of a naked woman with Arabic twisted out of context messages from the Q'uran tatooted on her body that insinuates by western media... once again that Islam encourages beating and raping women and is condoned by Islam twists the true teachings of the Q'uran. I will say it till I am blue in the face violence once again violence against women is a non-denominational worldwide problem Ms. Ali. I pray that your father was right when he told you that you will find your path back...selling out your brothers and sisters livees for a seat on Dutch parliament is wrong no matter what your intentions. Peoples lives are at stake and your propagating hate with your book one man is dead and you want a sequal. In the United States you are the equivilant of a man called Larry Flynt. You are trying to turn Islam into porn for sick people fixated on what is under the viel. You will not succeed in turning Islam into Playboy. Yes..you may temporarily get rich and famous. But what after that??? |

| [slm]I had caught some of the segment on 60 mins last night about this Somali woman.So this was what it was about huh?All I caught was that she had risen from being a factory worker to being a member of parliament and something about the veil. :oLa haula wala Quwwata billah! |

| [slm] I was so outraged when I saw this garbage last night on 60 minutes (I rarely watch the news here, because it is filled with so much hatred, religious bigotry towards Muslims, and flat out lies). In the movie they have taken verses of the Quran and totally twisted them. They are saying that a man can beat a woman, and that a woman has to obey her husband and do whatever he wants. Not only did they insult the Quran, they said that this is how Muslims are. That basically they are backwards and barabaric savages. And these ignorant Dutch people cheer this apostate of Islam as a hero. This woman has no idea what Islam is, let alone the verses in the Quran. There are so many articles and books out there that refute her ignorant garbage. For starters, she might want to visit: http://www.jannah.org/sisters to get some BASIC idea of what these verses mean. Also picking up any TAFSIR of the Quran will show what these verses actually mean. |

| [slm] The images are really sad :( They showed some excerpts from the movie here just after the director got murdered. The woman is wearing a niqab and a see through jilbab. So you can basically see everything. Then in another she is lying with lash marks all over her body and of course the tatoos... :( It made me really sad to see these images and I didn't even know that a Muslim was behind the whole thing, which is even sadder. wasalaam eleanor |

| [slm] I once read somewhere; that a person who isn't qualified to do so, should not interperet the quran and the hadith, should the person get the interpetation right they will still be wrong. Having read this lady's article I now see the sense of what I once read. I sincerely hope her father's duaas for her are realised Wassalaam |

| It made me very happy that you feel as hurt and shocked as I was.. the minority 1 million Dutch muslims are being victimized by fascist hate crimes as a result of this book, and Ms. Ali is planning a sequel.. any suggastions on how we as worldwide muslims plead for her stop this insane action. It could have huge consequences to our largely peace loving brothers who are kindly good family men? In addition, it implies that this is a muslim problem....She suggested that the Quran is a liscence to beat, torture, and kill muslim women while worlwide the focus of this non-denominational epidemic will be ignorned because ignorant assumptions like hers feed the media or take attention way from the non-muslim women who are being beaten tortured and killed for real that this is only an Islamic problem. Somebody needs to give this woman the statistics of murder, rape, and torture of women worldwide...it is by far much smaller in Islamic nations than globally. |

| [slm] This is horrible!!! Astagfirullah! :o ... what next? A woman leading men in prayer. Oh wait it already happened. Not to hijack your thread Sis. Bangachi... By the way, I was very disgusted by that incident that happened in New York. Astagfirullah! I haven't been able to find any updated articles on it, but I wonder how many men showed up to that prayer. I feel like I wasn't able to do anything in stopping that and I pray that may we make a difference in this Ms. Ali's case. Ameen. So coming back to the matter at hand, it seems the media has already given her the satisfaction of publicity on the count of Muslims. I think I'll start by writing a letter to CBS. As it states that "Such provocative interpretations of the Koran have made Hirsi Ali a lot of enemies among radical Muslims." No, I think this has given her bad relations among your normal everyday muslim. CBS and any other media really needs to wake up! If the story was done about/by a Christian woman or a Jewish woman or Budhist woman or a Hindu woman, the media would not refer to the killer as a radical Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Budhist, etc... I would never wish is on anyone woman or man! Like you said Sis Bangachi, this is a global problem, and not restricted to Muslims only. Okay, I think I'm done venting now. How about writing in a petition to the U.N. about what Ms. Ali is doing. Not to mention that what she did has killed a man. If she wants to help these abused women, this is not the way to do it. I pray that Allah (swt) may guide her soon Insh'Allah, Ameen. WaSalaam, Maryam. |
