[slm] SubhannaAllah!!!! Day before yesterday, the mother of a revert took her Shahadah!!!! I was crying like a baby! Her daughter became Muslim 20 years ago. It is such a sign of hope, from Allah swt, to all of us reverts. So many of us have buried our parents who never accepted Allah swt as One. Please continue to make dua for all of us who are involved in dawah and support your local dawah centers, as we are all struggling. |

[slm] Alhumdullilah that is great! Did you get a chance to talk to her and ask her what moved her to take the shahadah? |

[slm] It is another case of "it just made sense" Apparently a video she borrowed from the library about Jesus, Eesa, pbuh hit home with her. (Which was a catalyst for me too... Ahmed Deedat.. and why i am so 'up' on building the library at the Masjid. The info is there and ready when one comes searching) She was a firm Christian and religious. However she saw three of her children become Muslim. A couple of years ago she moved in with her Muslim daughter and brings her to community dinners. She was in the hospital and our Imam and his family went to visit her. She was tickkled pink. In a simple way he asked her why she wasn't Muslim. (He is superkind, I can only imagine the tenderness he must have said it with) She just said she didn't know how, he explained and she did! Right there on the spot! Dawah takes many forms. This is just another case of seeing the character of a Muslim and looking futher into Islam as a result. Subhannah Allah! |

[slm] this reminds me of a story my husband told me a few years ago. A man in his 70s went to a mosque in Yorkshire to ask questions about Islam. For whatever reason the imam and a couple of lads went to his house, and his room was stacked floor to ceiling with books on all subjects, everywhere you looked...he said that he had read all his life and more so since he'd reached old age...had more recently started reading about Islam, and again 'it just made sense', and he took Shahada :). SubhanAllah. It makes you realise that it's never too late to change, whether you're already Muslim or not, and we shouldn't 'write-off' the elders in our communities just because of their chronological age. |

[slm] A lady in our mosque converted when she was 73. This was 2 years ago. In the meantime she has learned to read Arabic, do her salaat and is now reading her way through the Qur'an in Arabic!! Her reason? The Ummah in Islam. She is living all alone. Has just one estranged sister who lives far away. Her husband died and she had no children. She got to know a young Muslim because they were always waiting for the same train at the station. It started with them saying hello to each other and then they got talking more and more. It ended up with him moving in as a lodger into her house and her converting to Islam. Prior to Islam she had arranged and paid for her own funeral because she was sure that no one else would be bothered doing it after she died. When she heard about how she would be taken care of if she died as a Muslimah she was very moved. Now at least she is secure in the knowledge that her funeral will be attended by people who care and her remains will be treated with honour and respect. wasalaam eleanor |
Alhumdullillah She died a Muslim! |
