| I personally think this is great news!! In a country where women don't go to the mosque for prayers or jumah or eid hopefully this will encourage them islamically - J Land to build mosque for women identified Chennai, April 4: Land for the construction of a mosque exclusively for women in Tamil Nadu has been identified, Tamil Nadu Muslim Women's Jamaat consultant Sharifa Khanum said today. She told reporters here that the project for construction of such a mosque at Parambur in Pudukottai district was on. Initially, a local Jamaat had offered land for the mosque, but "later due to pressure it was withdrawn", she said. "We have now identified a piece of land. The process is going on," she said. A month ago, the Jamaat had announced a proposal for the construction of a mosque exclusively for women. (Our Correspondent) |

| assalaamu alaikum Anything on the motive behind this? Is it due to the notorious lack of catering for women in masajid that we know of in that part of that world? |
