[slm] For example, when you give a loan of $100 to someone and require that he/she returns the loan to you after a year along with $5 for each month, that is ribaa. Another example is if you buy a car whose value is $15,000. But you cannot put down the entire amount at once so you make an agreement with the seller that you will pay the total amount in 15 payments of $1,000 each. The seller says, well, since you're not paying the whole amount at once, you will have to pay 15 payments of $1,100 each, where $1,500 will be the total interest on the car. This is also ribaa. There are *many* examples, and of different kinds also. But examples such as above are most relevant to our times for most of us. Wallahu a'lam. |
