[wlm] wa rahmatullah
I'm SOOO excited I haven't even been sleeping right.  We're leaving next Wednesday insha Allah and we'll be there for 10 days.  This is my first trip to a Muslim country (predominantly anyway) other than Morocco and Saudi.  We're going to be staying within a few meters of the Blue Mosque insha Allah.
We've been trying to do all our reservations online, but for some reason the 24th and 25th are booked absolutely everywhere in Istanbul.  I finally understood when a hotel wrote back and told me: Sorry we have no rooms for those two days because of the Champions League Final!!!!!!!!!!  Arghhh!!  The whole city is booked!!
So we'll be in a nearbye town (Bursa) which I don't know much about, except that you get there by ferry and they have rooms for the night :)
Any tips, advice, must-sees?  Has anyone been there?  How about with children?  Our son's two and the only thing I'm worried about is that he'll, umm, just ruin the whole experience by throwing tantrums everywhere we go  ::)  So if you know of any children's parks or playgrounds there please let me know.
:-)
Thats sounds like fun...

[slm] wow, Istanbul is so beautiful, especially this around this time. We went about 3 years ago with our oldest who was 3 at the time. He enjoyed all the places we took him, people there are kid friendly it was kind of strange, for instance where ever we went people would just pick him up and kiss him on both cheeks and give him a hug and put him down, at first my husband and i were like whats going on, but then we realise thats the custom, they do that to all the kids...make sure to take umbrella stroller for your 2 year old and toys, such as doodle pro from fisher price and stuff that he can do in the stroller. you can always buy stuff from there cuz its alot cheapr from here, although currency was difficult to grasp. Oh food was good, its really hard to explain to people whats the ingredient, but good thing is all meat is zabiha, so no pork products to worry about. Most hotels offer tours so ask the place you will be staying at, although i am sure if you dont take a tour and get a cab, the cab driver will show you around and they usually stick around till you finish a tour of a certain place...Have lots of fun and relax, inshallah your kids will enjoy it just as much as you... [wlm] :) :D
