I'm sorry to say that half the country shares the neo-cons fanatical views.

He even acknowledged that 'he's a media creation'...

His stupidity shines as bright as the Sun, but his Ministry of Misinformation is doing a great job brainwashing the masses.

My own personal opinion is no (and in no way am I being sarcastic with you).

Gheebah, is talking about someone behind their back and if you start enforcing it,
you really won't have much to say throughout the day...I think gheebah is also slanderous, and I'm not slandering him. All I did was post 'His' misspeak.

Also, you can say: since anyone's opponents document and use (mostly out of context) what the adversary says, I see no harm in shedding light upon his stupidity, evil intent towards Islam, America and the International Community (by posting what he or other's have personally said).

These people have double standards and are the biggest hypocrites around, so why should they get away with pointing out our defects and we aren't entitled to expose them...Play the "Galloway" game, if they hurl accusations, counter by exposing their trangressions. I'm tired of seeing muslims on the defensive and being apologetics.

It's my God given right...My human right...and my civil right, to freely speak, think and act as I please as a sanctioned being. As long as I'm not defaming anyone, or propogating lies...

These are Donald Rumsfeld's statements during a few Press Conferences:

1. This is fantastic...I've got a laser pointer!... Holy Mackerel... Ah man...
   That's terrific!

2. I would not say that the future is necessarily less predictable than the past...
I think the past was not predictable when it started.

3. If I know the answer I'll tell you the answer...and if I don't, I'll just respond
   cleverly (as in lie?).

4. Reporter: Mr. Secretary, what do you think of the situation in Georgia?
Rummy  : Who else had their hand up?

5. I don't do diplomacy! (I can see that... and he's a Cabinet level Diplomat).

6. We do know of certain knowledge that he [Osama Bin laden] is: either in
Afghanistan, or in some other country, or dead (thanks, that narrows it down).

7. I believe what I said yesterday... I don't know what I said... erm... But I know
   what I think, and... Well, I assume it's what I said  ???

8. We aren't running out of targets, Afghanistan is! ( a reporter asked him: 'how
would you like to see the american troops handle the enemy, dead or alive?
I personally prefer to see them dead. So does that mean that the troops will
kill anyone who attempts to surrender? like the first Gulf War, when U.S. troops
bulldozed and burried alive thousands of Iraqi Soldiers attempting to surrender).

9. Well...Umm...You know, something's neither good nor bad but thinking makes it
so, I suppose, as Shakespeare said (Really!).

10. Reporters that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to
    me, because AS WE KNOW:

THERE ARE KNOWN KNOWNS; THESE ARE THINGS WE KNOW, WE KNOW...
WE ALSO KNOW, THERE ARE KNOWN UNKNOWNS; THAT IS TO SAY: WE
KNOW THERE ARE SOMETHINGS WE DON'T KNOW...
BUT THERE ARE ALSO UNKNOWN UNKNOWNS; THE ONES WE DON'T KNOW
WE DON'T KNOW (Now that's Deep!).

11. We know where they are [Iraq's WMD'S], they're in the area around Tikrit and
     Baghdad...and East....West...South....and North...Somewhat ::)

12. The absence of evidence is not necessarily the evidence of absence
     (That's a clever response).

13. Well, so be it... Nothing is perfect in life... So you have an election that's
not quite perfect... Is it better than not having an election? You bet!
(So why complain when other nation's don't have perfect elections?).

14. You can get further with a kind word and a gun, than with a kind word alone!
(this is the Secretary of Defense of the Sole Super Power quoting Al Capone.
So, I guess that makes Rummy a gangster also).

Henry Kissinger said of Rumsfeld, 'he's the most ruthless man I have ever known'
This is coming from a War Criminal who participated in Crimes against Humanity
in the Middle East, Vietnam and South America).

On his watch, the Patriot Act was Created... Humiliation, Subjugation and
Torture took place at Guantanamo... the Creation of Task Force 121 & 262 and
P2's, and the Strategic Support Branch were formed (Counter Terrorism
Assassination Commando's that are being trained by the Israeli's)...
The troops in Iraq are being trained in Urban Warfare by the Israeli's
Mimicking their actions against the Palestinian groups...
and this is just a drop in the Ocean.

Hence it should not be enforced?

Is not-having-much-to-say-throughout-the-day a bad thing?

The athar comes to mind, "Verily he [saw] would spend long periods of his time in silence."
I think gheebah is also slanderous, and I'm not slandering him.
So gheebah = slander?  In other words, if what you say behind someone's back is completely true, it is not a slander, and therefore it is not gheebah?
All I did was post 'His' misspeak.
That's all you did huh?  I didn't know 'He' could also speak emoticons!

So, since others do something all the time, it's perfectly fine for us to do the same?

Furthermore, please forgive me, but where in your post did you "shed light upon his ... evil intent towards Islam, America and the International Community?"

I may be way off, but I thought the post was making fun of the man, nothing more nothing less.
These people have double standards and are the biggest hypocrites around, so why should they get away with pointing out our defects and we aren't entitled to expose them...Play the "Galloway" game, if they hurl accusations, counter by exposing their trangressions. Hmm, so the post was meant to "expose [Bush's] transgressions?"  My bad, I totally missed that.
It's my God given right...My human right...and my civil right, to freely speak, think and act as I please as a sanctioned being. As long as I'm not defaming anyone, or propogating lies...
God given right?  "To freely speak, think and act as I please?"  Which God is this, and where did He give you that right?

Would you mind giving me an ayah number or a hadith reference where such a right is given to you by God?

As GW is a public figure, and not only a public figure but a ruler (over lets admit it much of the world), people do have a right to criticize and discuss his actions/sayings/policies/character. And since what a person says is a reflection of that I don't see this in the category of gheebah. wAllahualam

No need for anyone to get upset here.   There are cases where gheebah is permissible.

Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in his commentary on Saheeh Muslim (Sharh Saheeh Muslim):

“But gheebah (speaking about a person in his absence) is permissible if it is for some legitimate (shar’i) purpose, which includes six reasons:

The first is complaining about unjust treatment: it is permissible for a person who has been mistreated to complain to the ruler or judge, or other people who have the authority or power to deal with the person who has mistreated him. He can say, So and so mistreated me, or, he did such and such to me.

The second is seeking help to change some evil action, and bring a sinner back to the right path: so he may say to the person who he hopes can help: So and so is doing such and such, so try to stop him, and so on.

The third is seeking a religious ruling or fatwa: whereby a person may say to the Mufti: So and so – or my father, or my brother, or my husband – has treated me unjustly by doing such and such; does he have the right to do that? How can I deal with this and protect myself from his mistreatment? etc. This is permissible in cases of need. It is preferable to say in the case of a man or a husband or a father or a son that someone did such and such [i.e., describe it indirectly], but naming names is permissible, because of the hadeeth of Hind who said (to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): Abu Sufyaan is a stingy man.

The fourth is warning the Muslims against some evil: this may take various forms, such as mentioning the faults of narrators, witnesses and authors. This is permissible by scholarly consensus. Indeed, it is obligatory, in order to protect the sharee’ah. It also includes describing faults when one is consulted [about a person, for a serious reason such as business, marriage, etc.], and speaking up if one sees someone buying faulty goods or a slave who steals or commits zinaa or drinks wine etc. – he should mention that to the would-be purchaser if he does not know about it. This is by way of sincere advice, not to cause harm or offence or corruption. Also, if you see a seeker of knowledge frequently visiting a person who is immoral or who follows innovations, and taking knowledge from him, and you fear that he may be harmed, you must advise him by explaining the situation to him, with the aim of offering sincere advice. If you see a person in a position of authority which he cannot discharge properly because he is not qualified for it or because he is corrupt, you should tell whoever has authority over him and explain what he is really like so that he will not be deceived by him and so that he will discipline him – this is not gheebah, and it is obligatory to put things right.

The fifth is if a person is openly committing immoral deeds or following bid’ah: such as drinking wine, confiscating people’s property unlawfully, collecting extortionate taxes, being in charge of illegal activities etc. It is permissible to speak of what he is doing openly, but it is not permissible to speak of other things except for another reason.

The sixth is for the purposes of identification: if a person is known by a nickname such as al-A’mash (rheumy-eyed), al-A’raj (lame), al-Azraq (blue), al-Qaseer (short), al-A’maa (blind), al-Aqta’ (missing a limb) etc., this is permissible for purposes of identification, but it is haraam to use such names for the purpose of belittling a person, and if it is possible to identify them by using other words, this is better. And Allaah knows best.”

I watched the daily show in Lansing one night and it was priceless!

The topic was on Tony Blair's recent visit to the U.S.: Global Warming and Debt Relief to Africa.

What I liked most is the way Bush handled the global warming issue two years ago and how he handled it again this time.  SAME WAY!  Two years ago - a clip of his reponse to the subject was shown where he said that he (we) need to find out more about global warming in order to understand what we are dealing with - he said the same again and the clip was also shown.

I had a chance to go back and read some of the other posts, my original reply was to what are permissible cases where gheebah is allowed. But in reading Abu Hamza's post I believe he wants to know if its ok to humiliate and make fun of George Bush?  I remember some time back on the board I had put up something on the board about George Bush and someone took exception to that, and I'll put up the reply that I put up from that time (at least it contains the part that I put up under point '#8').

Q/A with Sheikh Munajjid
Question :

What is our stance concerning the slaughter of Muslims in Palestine and other parts of the world that is happening right now, where houses are being destroyed, farms are being wrecked, children are being killed, the wounded are being detained in the streets, houses are being bombarded and people are being prevented by the Jews and others, from buying the food and drink that they need? What can I, as a Muslim, do?

Answer :

   Praise be to Allaah.

1-     You have to make du’aa’, and recite du’a’ al-qunoot in your salaah (prayer).

2-     Collect charity and send it through trustworthy channels.

3-     Support the weak and oppressed in all ways, including the media and the internet.

4-     Get scholars, daa’iyahs, khateebs and writers to explain the oppression that is happening and the negligence on the part of the ummah, and to mobilize the ummah to defend the holy places.

5-     Check on one’s own intentions with regard to fighting for the sake of Allaah, and see whether he is applying the hadeeth of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “Whoever dies without having fought for the sake of Allaah or having had the intention of doing so, has died following one of the branches of hypocrisy.” (Saheeh Muslim, no. 3533)

6-     Pursuing all the means of building up material and moral strength, in preparation for meeting the enemy (in battle).

7-     Reminding oneself and others of the virtues of martyrdom for the sake of Allaah and studying the rulings on jihad, and not having an attachment to this world.

8-     Doing as much damage as possible to the enemies who are in a state of war with us, by boycotting their products, attacking them verbally and in writing to humiliate and annoy them, and to point out their kufr and shirk, and their insults to Allaah, His Messenger and the believers, publishing as much as possible in the audio-visual and print media about this serious topic whilst also connecting that to Islamic belief and the words of Allaah and His Messenger,

We ask Allaah the Exalted and All-Powerful to support His religion and cause His word to prevail.

Halima:
Bush is stuck in a loop and sounds like a broken record. He said a while
back that they need to investigate global warming and 2 years later he's making the same statement.

On www.axisoflogic.com

they posted an article about a pentagon secret report saying: some scientists issued a warning that if the International Community (mainly the western governments) didn' take this issue seriously and try to reverse the damage, That globaly warming will be the Number-1 threat to humanity, not terrorism.

Bush takes it a step further by having the U.S. witdraw from the kyoto Agreement that they signed before (to decrease the out put of industrial pollution, and various chemicals that are having a catastrophic effect on the ozone layer). he withdrew because he wants to protect big business here. Cutting back on the emissions released by industry will decrease production which will decrease sales & profit...Not to mention  the weaponery they used since the first gulf war till now coated with depleted uranium, that's affecting the environment and peoples in many nations.

Bhaloo:
I understood what Abu-Hamza was indicating, and I still believe that it's ok to point out the idiotic phrases that come out of his mouth...How he always contradicts what he says, the actions of his administration and the dangers of his domestic and foreign policy.

Things aren't black and white in many areas, they used to hurl insults at Saddam and other individuals, organizations, nations and Religions and they're always involved in propaganda, disinformation, and psychological warfare.

If someone uses such tactics as a tool, then he leaves himself open for a legitimate counter attack by the same methods. Most People only understand that kind of language, I believe it's fair, a sound strategy and it isn't unislamic.

And like Jannah said, he's a public figure, his mispeak and policy affect the entire globe and it's legitimate to use that approach.

People like  Pat Robertson, Rev. Grahams Son & Daughter, and Jerry Falwel, Gen. Boykin have spoken very Critically and defamed Allah {swt}, the Prophet {asw}, Islam & muslims. So, if I or anyone , discuss what they said, or posted it for people to see, counter, or make fun of them, that would not constitute gheebah and it isn't haram to point out these issues.

When Sylvio Berlisconi (Prime Minister of Italy), said that the European Civilization was supperior to that of Islam, there was an uproar in the Middle East, and there was immediate retaliation in the news papers, The list of their actions is huge.

Regarding the article you posted a while ago and someone took issue with it, my response is: everyone has a view on a wide variety of topics, and if someone is offended by it well, that's life. You'll never please all the people, someone will always take issue with something you said or did. It's impossible to satisfy everyone. I am using things he personally said, his actions and policies and the people under him. I didn't fabricate anything, if i chose to format as a joke, insult or whatever, I don't consider myself as having made a mistake, and I don't think it's gheebah or haram.
