Ok, Momma Mod has her list of questions for potiential Hubbies. I have an assignment for you. If you aren't a father already, get in the mind set that you have a beautiful, smart and tallented 19 y/o daughter. She is the apple of your eye. You are very protective. Who a young brother is asking your permission to marry. Or at least to be considered. What 2 questions would you ask this young man. I would like each brother to post his top 2 questions but not the same as a bro poster before you. This would be a wonderful way to compile a list like Momma Mod suggested. If 10 to 15 bros list 2 totally different questions you all will have a list of 20 to 30 questions. Sister I would like you to just watch. Let the bros have their time. I myself am looking forward to seeing what brothers want to know. Feel free to post more than once if you come up with an additional 2 questions no one else comes up with. Good Luck :-) |

Just one question |

I would ask a really tough job interview question. The point is not to figure out how smart he is, but how quickly he gives up. I think if he gives up quickly, probably he's gonna do the same in everything including marraige. Here's my microsoft interview question: You have 10 jars containing balls. 9 jars have balls weighing 1 gram, one jar has balls containing 1.1 grams. You have a digital scale which you can only use once. How can you figure out which jar contains the 1.1 gram balls? It took me over 15 minutes of prodding and sweating to answer the question wrong :) Needless to say they didn't appreciate my "patience" ::) Anywhoo, I think a couple of well thought out questions is better than 20 to 30. As an unmarried young brother, I would start wondering if it's worth the headache :o Unless you wanna weed out guys like me :-/ [slm] |

[slm] What you have to do is pile up all the jars on top of one another on the scale. Then the scale should say 10.1 grams. Then remove the jars one by one. You'll know the jar when 1.1 grams gets subtracted. Cool huh :) As to sis. Aziza's challenge....I've never been a serious person, neither am I brave....So that get's me out of answering the question.... ::) edit: Ok ok ok I got the riddle wrong. You have to weigh all the jars on top of each other. Then subtract the jars. The jars with a .1 gram difference is the jar. (Shows im a lazy reader too huh :P) [slm] |

Each time you look at the scale measurement, you've used it and you can only use it once. Try again :P [slm] Edit: <hint>I asked how many balls the jars contain and she said as many as you need.</hint> |

wlm, i think it has to do with taking different number of balls from each jar... like 1 from the first one, 2 from the second, 3 from the third ... etc 10 from the last... and then divide and it should give you which jar has the heavier balls??? update: hey i think i solved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 yes so for example if the 1.1 balls were in the third jar it would add to 3.3 and then when u add all the stuff together it would be like a whole number .3 and that would tell you what jar has the heavier balls~~~!!! |

[slm] Ok here's my solution...it's similar to jannah's. All the 1 gram jars should have a number of balls from 1 thru 9. Then the 1.1 gram jar should have a random number of balls from 1-9. So when you weigh 9 jars, if you get 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 = 45 grams, the left over jar contains the 1.1 gram balls. If not, its corresponding jar among the weighed jars contains the 1.1 gram balls. Sabri |

[slm] Good job sabri! Once during a job interview I was asked how many ping pong balls can fit in a 747 passenger plane. I got the answer right and the job! |
Yep |

[slm] I think jannah is right. Sabri, I think your answer is right if the jars weighed nothing :P My mistake was I was thinking of how to get the jars onto the scale because my mental picture of a "digital scale" is like one you get on to weigh yourself and balls would just roll off that if they weren't in jars ::) Anywhoo, if he can answer the pingpong ball-747 plane question, marry him! He can come in handy during pingpong ball shortages :) [slm] |

slm, k here's some hard ones ;) 1. When will a person pray at-tahiyat in every rakat of a fard prayer? 2. When will a man have an "iddah" period of 3-months where he cannot marry? |

[quote] ok how many do fit in a 747 plane!!!!! and how on earth would u calculate that??![/quote] I think it depends on the assumptions you make. For example, if you assume the ping-pong balls are larger than the plane then the answer is 0. (assuming you're not allowed to flatten and fold up the balls ::)) I have some cheesy responses for your riddles jannah: [quote]1. When will a person pray at-tahiyat in every rakat of a fard prayer?[/quote] When he forgets which rakaat he's praying (probably most likely during fajr ;)). [quote]2. When will a man have an "iddah" period of 3-months where he cannot marry?[/quote] When he makes an oath to do so? :o Anywhoo, I think we've hijacked this thread, maybe you wanna fork it into a riddle thread so sr. azizah can get her responses :) [slm] |

[slm] [quote author=jannah link=board=bro;num=1118973735;start=0#8 date=06/18/05 at 12:18:01] ok how many do fit in a 747 plane!!!!! and how on earth would u calculate that??![/quote] Think people, think! Its not 0 or some small number. It does involve a little math, but nothing too difficult, though I think you might be able to solve this using calculus as well. Logic problems like this one and the jar one have become popular in interviews, which is something microsoft does in their interviews. |

[slm]... LOL at Sis Azizah. I would give them riddles to solve like the ones Jannah posted. See how they're mind works. But math problems......I'm outta here. *dashes to the door* *hits the wall instead* "ouch...awwwwww look at all the pretty little birdies" 8) Allah (SWT) bless..... Ma-assalaamah |
