Salam,

I haven't posted in ages..Hope you are all well. Insha-Allah, I will be going on vacation to Wales in 3 weeks time. I intend to spend most of my time in Central and Northern Wales.

Does anyone know where I may get hold of prayer times and info on any masajid and halal places to eat (if any).. Any other advice/recommendations on Wales are more than welcome..

I'm very excited about this trip.

If it's wales in the UK, then insha'allah i'll try to find you some info about mosques/halal food...do you know exactly where you'll be staying and also how long you'll be there for?

Yup, Wales in the U.K. I have not finalised the itinerary of my trip yet. But I know that I will not be spending a lot of time in Cardiff (no more than a day). Most of my time will be spent at the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia National Parks. If I have time I may visit the Isle of Anglesy. Length of my trip..about 10 days (may stretch to two weeks.)

JAK for your help,

I have been to Wales on a number of occasions and its vey beautiful.

I would definitly recommend you visit Snowdonia - have a ride on the tram that takes you through the mountains, its worth it. Also riding back from Snowdonia - it was a picture that I can never forget - so beautiful SubhanAllah. Caernarfon Castle (pronounced Canafen) is huge and absolutely amazing. Conwy Castle is also good.  It is right on the outskirts of Carnarforn Bay and was the largest castle I saw in Wales. You can get boat rides near it. I think there are some waterfalls near Betws O Coed (pronounced Betis y Cweed). You will find that once you visit an area and ask around, people will usually recommend places and there are lots of tourists (depending on what season you go) that you can enquire with. There are also info. sites where you can go and ask for places like Castles, waterfalls, mountains, that you can visit. They will give you loads of info. but its going to be very expensive. Worthwile doing your research on the internet and getting your maps ready beforehand.

I also recommend you to pay a visit to Rhyl, Colwyn Bay and Llangolyn (pronounced Langoflin). I'll try and dig out more info. on where you can go. Unfortunately, wherever I have been there was no mosque (or even Muslims for that matter). On occasions we had to do Tayyamum and pray out in the middle of nowhere. It was memorable.

I have been told that there are some muslims (albeit not many) and a halaal restaurant in Wrexham. I think its is an Indian. I don't know whether there would be a mosque. You would have to ask around. I will try and get some more info. for you.

I thought I had some digital photos but just realised those were when we went to the Lake District.

Hope this helps.
BTW - How long are yo going for?

sorry for not being able to reply sooner...my husband snapped his achilles tendon, and now has his leg in plaster so that's kept me busy  ;)

There's quite a big Muslim community in Cardiff so you should be able to find a mosque and halal food; see
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/islamiccardiff/

safiyya's pretty much said most that can be at the moment as I don't know of Muslim activities in the north of the country, but I'm sure there will be the odd takeaway.  I'll try to find out more though, as I work with a Muslim from wales.

Anyway, if you want to get out of wales you can always come to manchester and we'll go to the famous curry mile!
