Jazak allahu khairun for all the studying tips/duas, they helped.
I did well, alhamdulillah, on all my exams…..A’s.   []
Except for math. It was never my strongpoint. :'( I tried my best but was shocked to fin out the results.  :oI was below average on my math, so bad like flunking. Could I have prepared more? Perhaps. But I am a slow worker with math and the test was very long. No one did that great, though. The people who usually get 90’s got 77’s. I usually get 80’s , sometimes 75, or so, and I got a….. unmentionable. It’s lower than you think. :(I would be lucky if I got a C.
Please, please, I beg you to make dua for me… I am not sure the school will let me take Honors Chemistry because of my low math grade and that could affect college, records,  my future- job,  whether my parents will send to India to study, and more. MY parents will be so angry and disappointed, and everything’s big mess right now. School is out I can’t do extra credit or anything. The final exam grade is 20% of my semester grade.
I am so scared and nervous, I don’t know how to tell my parents, please help me. I don’t know what to do.
Aaaahhhhhh :'( :'( :'(
Jazak allahu khairun,

Honours in Chemistry!

It was my dream, too. Unlike you I was good at Maths. I got my wish. At a time when everyone wanted to be an engineer, I entered University with the express purpose of doing Honours in Chemistry. I did that, and topped in the Class. I had it all lined up: a PhD in Quantum Chemistry, and then a life of research, and I was sure a Nobel prize in Chemistry awaited me.

Things changed. I had to go and do a degree in Engineering. I eventually did obtain a PhD, but not in Quantum or any other Chemistry, but in Engineering Science. What a mess my life was, I thought.

Nearing now the end of my working life, I can see the truth of what your signature says:

"Indeed, God has not done the least bit of injustice to anyone, it is man who has done many injustices to himself".

Ask Allah to give you good in everything, even in your disappointments. Yes, it is true, it is amazing, even in my disappointments, and reversal of fortunes, Allah had hidden good for me.

Why wouldn't He have done that for you, too? Have faith in Him that whatever He has given or withheld from you, is in your best interest.

Offer thanks, say alHamdulillah, and seek His forgiveness, and look for whatever fields are now open for you.

verily in every condition of a momin there is good. When s/he is blessed with good news, s/he turns to Allah and offers thanks. When s/he hears of some disappointment or loss, s/he turns to Allah and seeks His forgiveness and good fortune.

May Allah (swt) grant you the best in both worlds

Just go ahead and tell em, Might as well get it over with. The world won't come to an end cause you got bad grades. No use beating yourself up about it.

We were'nt put on this earth mainly to get A's on Math tests. The main thing to remember is that we work to live, not the other way around.

Why beat yourself up on things your not good at? Just concentrate on the subjects you like and excell in it.

I hate math, and I'm good at Mechanical Engineering. I used to think i'd just ignore math and concentrate on the other subjects, until I found out I had to take math to get a Mechanical Engineering degree. I've gotten c's in the majority of my math courses (much to the chagrin of my parents). I even flunked Trig the first time (although I got an A after retaking it with a more nicer instructor), and I've gotten b's and c's for the rest. Heck mebbe I'll give up math altogether and start a business or something  ;)

Hope your examination results get resolved nicely insha allah.

[slm]....

Awwwe Sis.  Here have a bebzi  [].  You better just get it over with with your parents.  Math: practice makes perfect.  Keep at those problems.  I loved math when I was younger that I took Calculus when I was a sophomore in HS.  It's because I worked hard at it.  I'm talking about I dreamt about math problems.  Did all nighters.  Then I had an opportunity to succeed without math and so I stopped using my skills in it and now, I can only do basic algebra.   :'(  Keep practicing it speaking from experience.

Ma-assalaamah.....
how about Biochemistry?

how about Biochemistry?

or Medicine?

or Biology?

people who find Maths intimidating, often do very well in the above three.

or, maybe it is possible to take sis ter Trustworthy's advice, and repeat the semster for improvement in maths.

When my son did his pre-University certificate, his result was good, but not so good as to get him admission in engineering. "Papa, what shall I do?", he asked, quite frightened. And this, while earlier he had refused to listen to me about what to study. So, I said: "don't worry son. Let us see what you like as subjects, and if you can get admission in that. Otherwise, we just take what is available, and thigs will be right.

He studied computer science. In the first University he didn't get good teachers, so he had to re-enroll at another one. Althoguh there were peoblems again, he stuck it out, and graduated. then I advised him to do an MBA, which he has now done.

So, don't be frightened.

as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah,

you should make a list of all the things you DO excel at.. so that you don't feel too bad when you let your parents know about your grades, and start to think: "I can never do anything right! :'("

I don't really like math and have never done well in it :(  but alhamdulillah, Allah has given me other talents :)  such as pepsi drinking  [], sleeping..  :P

The only times I kinda wished I had more interest and skill in this area was during some of our classes at the masjid! Our teacher in the community I grew up in was a Phd in Physics, so he would often use mathemetical examples to explain Islamic concepts.. and my response would usually be ???

one of my advisors in college, who was really an extraordinary person, told me - if you are REALLY brilliant, you don't need to worry about excelling in all your courses - just do something amazing in the world, and colleges will give you honorary degrees anyway ;)  (you might not want to tell your parents about that advice :))

insha'Allah, everything will be okay :)

salaam :)

don't kill yourself with anxiety.

believe me, whatever happens is for your good. Trust Allah (swt). Even when you fail. Think of the worst disaster that could happen to you, and steel yourself, and bear it with Sabr, and it will be for your good, insha`Allah.

I know, I have been through many disastrous failures and closed walls.

Tell you what, say "astaghfirullah". Make it a habit. Say it all the time.
