I was planning all along to go to ICNA for at least one day...But alas family obligations ( ie. my sisters' wedding preparations and her new home come in the way)!!! why me ? why?

so we have to paint her house on saturday and do other nonsense come sunday..and of course I have to work tomorrow! there goes yet another conference with me NOT in attendance.

Good luck with getting some transport there? doesnt the train go there?

wlm,

salam

just got back... i thought it was fabulous...

the theme this year was "muslim families" and boy were there alot of muslim families there!!! thousands of parents and kids and babies running around everywhere! ma'shallah it was really really nice to see...

what i enjoyed the most the whole weekend was the qiyaam by ramadan sabagh i mewan wow i haven't had an experience like that since umrah it was so beautiful

the lectures had different tracks so there was the "marriage track", the "parenting track", "family track", "dawah track" etc they also had lectures in arabic, urdu, bosnian and spanish which i thought was awesome

the bazaar was cute too definitely not as overwhelming as isna's bazaar so u could find little treasures

i really don't understand why everyone doesn't make an effort to go to these conventions... like is it inbred arrogance that they think they know everything and that they couldn't possibly learn anything or benefit from anyone anymore? i mean what did most ppl do this weekend go to bbqs or just laze around or go to some tourist attraction... at least at the conf these families were enjoying themselves in an islamic environment and learning together.. i have such good memories of growing up going to these conventions when i was little and running around and having the best time..

i guess things never change ;)
