[slm] :-) This afternoon someone told me that fajr prayer is actually sunnah and that the required morning prayer is subh, which is actually at sunrise time. I have never heard this before. Can someone please clarify this confusion, and please give me hadith or Quran or something so I can have evidence to share with my friend who said this, or my other friends who thought the same as me. Thank you very much. Jazak Allah Khair. Tara |

wlm, long time no hear!! hope everything is well inshaAllah... i think there might be some confusion on the arabic translations and terminology... what we call fajr = the fard required 2 rakat prayer before sunrise, some arabs call SUBH meaning "the morning prayer" and when they say FAJR they may mean the 2 rakats you can pray after the sunrise called ISHRAQ Ishraq the 2 rakats after sunrise are NOT fard, i forget which grade I don't think its sunnah mu'akkadah (emphasized) I think its like a nafl that the prophet saw sometimes practices Allahualam but its definitely not required In Quran fajr the 2 required before sunrise is usually referred to by the word SUBH and in some hadith FAJR refers to the 2 rakats of sunnah before the required fajr!!! soooooooo alot of confusion ;) basically 2 sunnah rakats before the required ones - very emphasized some say obligatory so u should do them 2 fard rakats before sunrise - fard required we have to do pray this of course 2 rakats after sunrise - good to do |
