Do you go "seaside holiday"?

Hi. I'm new to this message board. I want to ask something which I'm looking for madly these days.

Untill a few years ago, we(me and my family) used to spend the summer seeing new places, new cities and resting somewhere far from crowded metropols. But now we want to swim and go near seaside. We've searched last two or three years, but found nowhere as we want to; ideal place for a religious Muslim family.

Here's a few hotels for religious people in my country, but I don't like them. Their beach is crowded with the women with bikinis!

I wonder, where are you going for holiday? There's almost 1 billion Muslim around the world. Of course, some of them go swimming, go beachs, go seaside. But where are they going? If you know good hotels, resorts, countries for a Muslim family's holiday, please tell me! Though I'm still searching, I'm tired of searching.

I looked at so many places in my country, but unfortunately it's so hard to find. So you can say any country, it doesn't matter. I'm ready to go ANYWHERE where I can swim and look at the environment without any fear!

I want to go somewhere;
has no topless,
not crowded beachs full of men and women with bikinis,
where I can eat the hotel's food with no fear that maybe it's not halal,
where people don't look at me weird because of my outfits.

???

...Or maybe am I wrong? There's no place for us? :(

It would be one of my dreams to come true... other than my best dream.. Hajj:

A secluded beach where I could be without hijab, swim in the midnight sun, and have cool drinks on the porch of a cabana with my hubby.....

These places must exist. Just ask a travel agent....

Not secluded but the beaches in Dubai are generally available for family's to enjoy without being accosted by sights one would not wish to see. The beach parts are usually quite spacious and one can sit on the sand or enjoy a barbeque on the grass

I think there are sections exclusively available for sunbathers (for wont of a better word), that family's can avoid.

Thanks for the info Fozia. And thanks for the advise Kathy. :)

Fozia, can you give me any hotel name in Dubai? I'll search on the internet, but a recommendation would be better.

Hmmm depends on how much you want to spend. The Jumeirah beach hotel is lovely, go during off season and it will be cheaper, I'll have to ask my husband, we stay with the sister in law (she insists upon it). Then there's the burj al arab, which is supposed to be part submerged in the sea, but may no longer be so due to the recent tsunami. The burj al arab is also expensive (not so sure now if it's attraction ie being part submerged is no longer true).

Keep in mind that the two above named hotels are very popular with tourists, and I have never personally used them.

Will have a think for more ideas.

Wassalaam
PS when are you planning on taking the holiday, June, July and August are unbearable hot in Dubai.

Thanks again. I'll look for prices. I think September would be fine for our holiday.

I am sitting at home now :-[ and it's very very hot here. So until September, I have to look at the sea photos on internet pages. The pictures are great to watch but not good to go for holiday. Crowded beaches are not for us, secluded beaches are for nudes.... I don't understand >:(

Thank you, at last I found somewhere to go :)

Go to the beach and enjoy the sun i say. You dont have to look at semi-naked people, just stick to the parts of the beach that are not so crowded. I absolutely love the beach and the seaside. We muslims need to chill out a bit  :)

If I'd live alone, maybe I could go. But we're a family; I have got two teenager siblings, one is male. People are almost totally nude, I'm getting afraid of seeing a topless. With your family, seeing such scenes is really disgusting and shameful.

Also, sometimes I find some secluded(compared to the others, of course) beaches. But then I worry, thinking "do I look weird there with my hasema, do they feel uncomfortable beacuse of me?"  ??? And every time when we eat in the hotel, asking "Is this pork? Does it include lard?" can be boring for the waiters. :D

a few years ago I had the pleasure of staying with my inlaws in Tunisia. We stayed at a beach called Ghar Mileh. It was absolutely beautiful. My mother in law and I would go swimming in our jilbabs. It is very muslim friendly, infact although Tunisia is a tourist hot spot this beach was used only for local families. There were no tourists (other than me).
It is good to know Arabic as this is the language used in this area. Food and drinks are super cheap and really, really good!
The beach has beautiful hiking trails and I saw some people doing water horseback riding (sorry don't know the technical term). In front of you is the Mediteranean Sea and behind you is a beautiful Mountain.
There is a nearby town that has somefunky little shops and there is a mosque to go to Jumua prayer.
Something that I found very cool was, we went for a walk one day to buy some fresh fish, the nearest town is a 45 min walk. Every house we passed my mother in law pocked her head in and called "Mohammed" and everytime someone answered. I thought it was neat. Insha Allah if you can go here it's a wonderful place to visit as everyone is super friendly and welcoming.

Wa Alaikum Salaam

Thanks  :) . Oh my Allah, there's so much than I could guess. I would go ANYWHERE if I could find only one, I couldn't think of alternatives. Now I find out how many choices there are, and I'm so happy to see it. Now I've got to make a choice  ;D

Sabrine, is there any hotels we can stay?

here is a link to a popular Tunisian toursit site. Ghar Mileh is very small, so I am not surprised you couldn't find it! It is near a place called Bizerte. The above link shows you who you can contact in your country for further information.
