Hi salamz!

I was wondering if any sisterz have had this done on their face, and wat has the result
been. Ive heard it in some cases stimulate growth and make things worse. I'mseriously
considering it, and any info form u would help. Two friends got it done. 1 looks beautifully
hair-free, the other 1 looks terrible since she even ended up with a scar.

Thanx.

Yeah man...be careful.  One of my friends ended up with a big scar across her face...  But I do know a couple of people who went through it (on the face) and it was okay.

I think a lot of it depends on your skin color. Like if you have darker skin, it will be less effective for you, so then they have to use a higher setting for your skin.  What ends up happening is that if it's too low, it could stimulate growth, and if it's too high you could end up with a scar (because the laser is attracted to melanin cells -- and if your skin is dark, it could burn the melanin cells in your skin vs. to the ones in the hair).

So find someone who knows what s/he is doing, because the face is such a sensitive area, you know?

Have you tried homeopathic medication?  They have cures for everything, man.

Good luck, inshaAllah ... and let us know how it goes :)

Wasalaam.

Sister Anon, I can tell you from experience it is wonderful.
Due to a hormone inbalance which they can't seem to regulate I
dealt with waxing (painful and grew back right away)
then I tried electrolisis. (I WOULD NEVER EVER DO AGAIN)
Electrolisis is painful and evasive as they actually put a thin probe
for lack of a better word down the pore/hair folical (whatever they call it)
and zap the hair folical. It is a little shock and then they pluck the hair.
But after the 10th or 15th zap it gets on your nerves and
you are ready to jump off the table.
The more treatements I had the worse my skin reacted. Last time
I developed a rash for over a month. Please stay away from this method.
Also the hair grew back right away and they kept telling
me it was new growth.

Laser is more expensive, but it lasts long, what hair comes back is thinner
and with keeping with regular treatments stops growing.
It does require several times for the same area.
Not just one.
With waxing and electrolisis my hair grew back right away
with laser it was 2 to 3 months and come back in less and thinner.

Make sure you go to a good place, no beauty salon places.
I have a doctor do mine.
It hurts a little but it is over in minutes and the redness goes away
that night or the next day.

I would highly recommend laser but also that you
be evaluated, I have very dark hair and the hair growing was dark
some what course. I have heard on fine hairs and light haired people
it is not effective or as effective.
Go get evaluated. Most places do consults for free or a small fee.
A lot of dermotolgist, cosmetic surgions offices and some MD's are doing it.

I'd stay away from the mall and salon places.
Best wishes, it is frustrating dealing with hair growth where you
don't want it.
Also consult your GYN as there may be a hormone
inbalance that can be corrected.
Polycystic oviarian syndrome issues can cause this.
Also there are creams now to help with the testostrom that is in our
skin hair folicals or something to that effect.
If none of the above is found your GYN may suggest
going to an endocrinology specialist.
Feel free to PM me here on the board as I can
give you more info that I would prefer not to put
here publically on the board, just my experience with this issue
that you can ask your doctor about.

GO LASER if the eval says it is ok. I love it.But please do see your GYN
as laser takes care of only existing growth and doesn't stop
future new hair folicals. Try to find what is causing it while
getting rid of what you already have.
