| [slm] Okay fashionistas, I need help here. So my younger sister is getting married - and I was wondering how do indian/pakistani or those who wear those type of wedding clothes pin that dupatta to their head? My sister does not wear head scarves so its not like she'll be pinning it to the scarf.. I asked Jannah this before and she said that you have to directly pin the dupatta to the hair? Is that right? Her dupatta isnt heavily emroidered..its kind of simple. So is that the best and only way? I'm guessing I'd have to pin it in more than one spot so it doesnt stick up weird? The wedding is next week!!!! Thanks- I'm an 'indian' clothes ignoramous:) salaam |

| slm, Did you try pinning it to the hair with strategically placed bobby pins? I wonder if they sell anything special to do that..Check at one of those hair accessory places like claire's? EXCITING i can't wait to see the pics!!! |

| [slm] use a bobby pin through the top. use a safety pin on the back, that takes the weight off the head. but pin it in the back so that you can't see the pin...like double it over. i don't know how to explain it. then if she needs more support, pin on the shoulders as well. :) Wasalaam. |

| [slm] Does nobody (but me obviously) use those hijab pins, they come in a lovely array of sparkly diamante decorated to plain black colour. Basically, all you do is stick the pins into the hijaab (wedding veil in your case) and through the hair. One on each side of the head should keep the veil in place for the day, especially as the veil isn't heavy. Mine had a little red diamante thing on top which sparkled and looked like part of the veil. They're just extremely long pins (rather I suppose what a hat pin would look like, only I've never seen a hat pin...). Wassalaam |

| [slm] Yes those are the type of pins I'm wittering on about, only mine had a single red shiny diamante thingy, very pretty and matched my wedding dress. Let us know how you arrange the veil. Wassalaam |

| [slm] the pinning went well..i guess.it was stressful. I started out with safety pins and tried to strategically place them...them tried bobby pins - almost made a large hole in the orni thingie..but it worked out. perhaps i'll post one picture later.. overall the wedding went well.. glad it's finally over. strange the house now feels empty! thanks for your help guys! salaam |
