Precognitive dreams...

slm,

i was wondering if anyone had dreams that later you realized the true meaning of... like it was of an event that came true.. or symbolized something that came true..

today i realized a dream i had 8 months ago (about my workplace) actually came true.. at the time i thought it was just an odd dream...and thought it could never possibly come true cause of the situation i was in... but here it is exactly like the dream spelt out...

eerie huh maybe it's just coincidence or something after all we have tons of dreams but they all don't come true right

i think maybe i've had 4-5 of these 'precognitive dreams' in my life.. usually they are very intense dreams or re-occuring

perhaps they are in the category of "true dreams" (not of shaitan or nafs) and we only get to experience these rarely?

I've had dreams that have later come true, mostly mundane things really. I read somewhere sometime, that people after the prophet (pbuh) will have dreams that are true on occasion I think it is meant as a sign of qayamat, dunno, will look it up and let you know, or maybe someone knows more than me and will post.

Sr. Azizah, if the dreams are not nice, try and put them out of your mind, they are from satan to cause you upset. Keep praying to Allah inshallah you will come to the best conclusion for you.
Must add, that once you took the shahadah you are as a new born, Allah willing, for he is the most beneficient the merciful.

Azizah I think interpreting dreams is something no one can really do. It's really just guessing and sometimes a dream is really just thoughts wandering. Dreaming about the past could mean you were thinking about it or feel some strong emotion like guilt, sadness, change, a fear. Or it could be from shaitan as Fozia said.. Allah knows best.

I always get confused when I get good dreams, I cannot figure out whether they are from my nafs or from Allah, specially when I pray salat Al- Istikhara.

Furthermore, I thought good dreams in state of barazh (i.e. sleeping states) are give to us by Allah as a mercy to our minds to enable us to grasp the existence of the things that are unknown to us...

For instance, maybe its better that someone gets something later in his/her life etc,..Seriously how can someone suppose know if these dreams are indeed from their subconscious and not from Allah, I think it’s only natural If people think about their problems, but nevertheless we still don’t have control over our dreams. So I guess the question still remains!!!!

dreams do come true at times. In East Pakistan before the split, my brother dreamt that the family was leaving East Pakistan as refugees, and it came true. There have been many instances when he has dreamt true dreams.

sis Fozia, the prophet [saw] said that nabauwah has ended with him, but true dreams will continue to be seen, and these are a fortieth part of nabuwwah. True dreams have nothing to do as sign of the Qiyamah. There are other signs that have come true.

sis Azizah, one shouldn't tell the dreams to everyone, only to those who know how to interpret them. And for the interpreter, it is advisable to frame the response in a good light.

I have those OFTEN. So do my other family members, especially on my mom's side of the family.

Sometimes they are like a play or metaphor describing something.

Often others will be literal visions, snapshots of future events yet to unfold.

Believe me, it can be very frightening to know some things.....it's really better left alone.
