| Assalaam aleikum, Dear sisters, I was invited to my first ever iftar gathering for ladies at the masjid Saturday. We are briefly breaking the fast, praying Maghreb, and then gathering in a social area for a dinner. I am already nervous at meeting all of these sisters for the first time, and I am not sure what I should wear. I was thinking loose linen slacks, a long-sleeved blouse, and hijab, but I don't want to wear the wrong thing. I know that this is not the most important thing to be concerned with right now, but at the same time, I am meeting a lot of sisters for the first time, and I want to be appropriately dressed. Please give me your opinions. I will really appreciate your advice! Shokran and wassalaam, Carol :) |

| walaikum salam Carol, While there is nothing Islamically wrong with women wearing loose slacks, some ppl do have cultural issues with them (I don't know why but they do probably cause in their home countries women don't wear any type of pants) so I don't want you to get any comments from anyone especially since they don't know you, so i'd recommend a long skirt and blouse with a hijab!!! And you know what would get you brownie points... brownies!! well it doesn't have to be brownies but any dessert/baked item and i'm sure they'll extra love you :) |
