| AOA, I think in this time, we need to re-unite and participate as a Volunteer in our local hospitals in Pakistan. I have seen and was greatly inspired by some college boys and girls helping out patients with their best efforts. Any suggestion regarding this would be appreciated. Ma'salama Mohammad Ali |

| slm, hmm and wouldn't it be nice if all the rich paki doctors went back to their homeland and spent 3 months to a year helping their own people?? ps paki is not an epithet in the US its just short for pakistani |

| There are a lot of people going - I know that groups of professionals are trying to organise themselves [i]before[/i] they go so that they can be of optimum effectiveness when they get there... I just wish there were more going. There is a channel here called ARY, they are presenting programmes all day to get people to give aid etc. The singers, actors (both Pakistani and Indian), presenters are really trying hard - and many of them can't keep from crying openly on these donation programmes. |

| [slm] For non-medical personnel: Working at hospitals means you'll probably end up getting in the way...management doesn't support great volunteer programs...plus then the nurses end up with bees in their bonnet for you. (This is experience speaking) So I think that there are other ways to volunteer. (Relief work...Dawn has been advertising an amazing program for the past few days...I would do it if I wasn't professionally tied up). One of the major things I can see is that there are lots of children who seem to be sufferring from a lot of emotional and psychological issues...and there is lots that can be done in that area. oooh!! FYI: Adoption opens in 6 months!!!! Wasalaam. |
