| [slm] Thanks for the clothes. A sis on this baord sent a gigantic box of Islamic appropiate clothes for me to hand out to the needy in our community. I want to say thanks to her publically, but she is so concerned about her deen and intention, I dare not. Saturday was the community Iftar meal. Many of the 'needy' were there and all were wearing her outfits and beaming. They looked gorgeous. I wish you were there to see them and hear the compliments they were getting! I used to wonder why they did not come to events, perhaps they could not compete with the stunning 'desi' outfits. ( I know the feeling). When they did come, their dress was so 'high schoolish' I wondered what are they thinking? Perhaps they did not have / afford 'proper' clothes. When I was handing them out, they asked where they came from and I said which state, they seemed relieved, that no one would recognize the outfit they choose. I am posting this, because it is the second time, someone has sent me clothes for others, Yeah never my size... but where can you find the size, But to encourage others to sned their clothes to communities outside their own. MashAllah. you would have been grateful to Allah swt to see the women and for the opportunity and resources to send clothes to the needy and the refugees. |
