Psych War in Afghanistan - Film Rolls as Troops Burn Dead

uploaded 19 Oct 2005

by Tom Allard

US soldiers in Afghanistan burnt the bodies of dead Taliban and taunted their opponents about the corpses, in an act deeply offensive to Muslims and in breach of the Geneva conventions.

An investigation by SBS's Dateline program, to be aired tonight, filmed the burning of the bodies.

It also filmed a US Army psychological operations unit broadcasting a message boasting of the burnt corpses into a village believed to be harbouring Taliban.

According to an SBS translation of the message, delivered in the local language, the soldiers accused Taliban fighters near Kandahar of being "cowardly dogs". "You allowed your fighters to be laid down facing west and burnt. You are too scared to retrieve their bodies. This just proves you are the lady boys we always believed you to be," the message reportedly said.

"You attack and run away like women. You call yourself Taliban but you are a disgrace to the Muslim religion, and you bring shame upon your family. Come and fight like men instead of the cowardly dogs you are."

The burning of a body is a deep insult to Muslims. Islam requires burial within 24 hours.

Under the Geneva conventions the burial of war dead "should be honourable, and, if possible, according to the rites of the religion to which the deceased belonged".

US soldiers said they burnt the bodies for hygiene reasons but two reporters, Stephen Dupont and John Martinkus, said the explanation was unbelievable, given they were in an isolated area.

SBS said Australian special forces in Afghanistan were operating from the same base as the US soldiers involved in the incident, although no Australians took part in the action.

The incident is reminiscent of the psychological techniques used in Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison.

This is nothing new, in 1911 Americans used to put Muslim dead in graves full of pig parts.
Desecration of bodies was used against the native americans too.

Unfortunately the desecration of enemy soldiers/fighters bodies is something practised by all people all over the world throughout history.  Na'oodhoo billah, Muslims have been guilty of this crime (becuase that's what it is) as well.

Comment: "cowardly dogs" and "lady-boys" burn Mujahideen corpses

"cowardly dogs" and "lady-boys" burn Mujahideen corpses

This week an Australian broadcast film showed US troops setting fire to the corpses of Muslims bodies after a gun battle in southern Afghanistan. One of the US cowardly dogs used the smoking corpses to taunt local villagers. The film shows Sgt Jim Baker saying through a loudhailer "You allowed your fighters to be laid down facing west and burned. You are too scared to come down and retrieve their bodies." He described the Muslim Mujahideen as "cowardly dogs" and "lady boys".

This desecration was carefully calculated to cause maximum offence. The reference to "facing west" mocked our practice of facing our dead toward Mecca. The ignoramus Sgt Jim Baker did not even realise that Mecca is actually west of Afghanistan. With his red-neck closed minded American centred mentally he probably thought that all Muslims always face east in prayer and in burials regardless of their global position. However he seemed well informed regarding how deeply offensive it would be to see martyred Muslims mutilated by fire.

The filmmaker, who was "embedded", was a freelance cameraman. He told the Australian network that the comments of the US troops were part of their "psychological operations" and "…appeared to indicate that they really wanted to rile the Taliban." The fact that he was "embedded" means that he was selected and "fed" information that was inline with American policies and practices. Embedded journalists are only exposed to behaviour of US troops that is guided and monitored by their masters in Washington. In short, the sentiment behind this incident was consistent with the keystone sentiments of the US crusade on Islam.

The brutality of the Americans in Afghanistan has largely been covered up, but the scale of their violence occasionally gets caught on camera. This was the case last May when it emerged that American scum at Bagram tortured a Muslim to death. The man was found to be just an ordinary taxi driver. He was not the first Muslim to be battered to death at Bagram. However he was one of the few that came to the attention of the public. The "Psy-Ops" nature of this war on Islam, epitomised by this incidence, is completely compatible with the behaviour of the cowardly crusaders at Guantánamo Bay and Abu Ghraib.

This week the massacre at Ramadi in Iraq shows how this war on Islam is truly international. The crusaders may be initiating local and parliamentary elections, imposing constitutions, making sideshows of former dictators and anointing their chosen sons: however they are still continuing to brutalise this Muslim Ummah on a scale comparable to that of the USSR, the Ba'athist or any other of the Kufr ideologies that have presided over our lands in the last eight decades. The US military is filled with homosexuals, according to their own sources. It is filled with "men" who are really brave when they drop WMDs from thousands of feet in the sky. It is filled with men who are really brave when sitting in armed tanks. It is filled with men who are really brave when they are protected by German canines and handguns when confronted by naked humiliated hooded Muslims who are handcuffed to cages. They should ask themselves, who are the real lady-boys and cowardly dogs? We are in no doubt about the answer to this question.
