| slm, Ok the first thing you should note is the author of the article!! A person who is KNOWN for her anti-islamic stance and articles. Really, sometimes I wonder why some people claim to be Muslims even? I mean if you don't like anything about Islam why bother claiming you are Muslim and writing about it?? Anyway besides that, I wonder why she is criticizing "hijabis" for wanting to be fashionable? I don't see her walking around wearing sweats or whatever. And why criticize women for not wanting to wear black formless clothes head to toe. Is that what is Islamic in her mind? And yet this is a person who is vociferously anti-hijab. It's interesting that when you analyze a lot of missionary argumentation that they criticize things on both ends, and then either way you go it's negative. Smart that they do that. Anyhow best not to waste time over it, as long as everyone recognizes the clear anti-islamic toned message written in the guise of personal journalism by an author who is completely biased, esp in this beautiful month wsalaam |

| [slm] I thought the article was just a report with no opinions given. I am sure it ok if women who wear hijab want to look good. No rule that says that you need to look drab. I took the article as just a report on a trend. Her intensions are unknown to me through the article. Allahu A'alam |

I have read this woman's book, and also the article- she should be on the French cabinet, she is so anti-hijab! >:( I have shaylas, al-amira style hijabs, and triangle scarves, and I try to get them in colors to go with my blouses. I am a big (no-- BIG!!) Muslimah, and having the scarves as a focal point gives me more peace of mind. Wearing hijab is a delight, and buying them is different styles is one of my life's vices! ;) [wlm] :-) Laila |

| Welllllllll-- err- from Lane Bryant??? I don't wear jilbabs, yet, so I get extra big (4XL) blouses with long sleeves. Sorry Kathy!! ;D Have a diet [] on me! :-)Laila |
