| [slm] My husband went out shopping (sans me, and this makes it the last time). He went out to buy 'Some fruit and vegetables'...He has returned with the above, plus a bag of kiwis (the girls will finish them off), and a kilo of tomatoes (I'll use them up in cooking). But what to do with the two above items??? The cucumbers are huge and one can only eat so many raitas and salads, as for the papayas I am at a complete loss........Seriously hope someone can come up with something creative.... Wassalaam |

| [slm], I have no clue for the papayas, but one for the cukes. Grate the cucumber. Mix yoghurt, creme fraiche, salt, pepper and nutmeg together and use this as your dressing. It is delicious! If you don't have cream fraiche, then don't worry. [wlm] Marcie |

| [slm] if papayas are raw, or not too ripened, then you can peel it, cut it up and store in the freezer in a ziploc bag for as long as you want to, it can be used as a meat tenderizer...also if they are ripened you can do the same and i am sure you can use it for papaya shakes...hope this helps.... :) |

| [slm] Thanx for that Sr. Marcie, that is now one cucumber down and ummm five to go ::) Sr. Maryam, sorry to sound thick, but how do I use papyas as meat tenderizer??? Will it make the meat sweet??? I'm afraid I'm not terribly keen on papayas, their seeds give me the shivers. Br. Muslim if you lived in the UK, you would have been sent a box of flipping papyas as an eid gift. The papayas are I think ripe. And no putting loads in a fruit salad does not appeal to me...I think I'll pack them in the Amir of the house's lunch box today when he goes to work. Wassalaam |

| Assalamo elikuim Sr.Fozia, raw papaya are great meat tenderizer. What I do is make a paste of raw papaya(with the skin ) and pour them in ice cube tray and freeze them. So whenever I am making seekh kabab(turkey, beef or chiken ) I put one or two cubes in the meat (depending on the lbs of meat). They give a certain flavour also. But you said that papayas are ripe, you cant use them for meat tenderizer. Me and my husband (my parents also) love papaya. Care to mail them to us :) Wasalam tq |
