Lovers' Tears Precious than Paradise' Rivers

[This is referring to the prayer of the Lovers of God. They value their
sincere worship of Creator more than the paradise which they receive as
reward for the former. They cannot find joy except in their silent
conversation with God. They want their suffering too to be associated with
Him and seek His refuge from the worries of this materialistic world. They
cannot describe their joy when their heart weeps before Him.

Their lifetime devotion to Him is without ever having a glimpse of their
Loving Creator. Their belief is blind, simply because the Holy Prophet, His
Beloved, said so. And the paradise is the reward for taking such a risk!]

O Tasbih!

The joy and pain of His lovers are shown
Only to the One who in their hearts rein

They can suffer no other plight
By Him alone can they delight

Last night two slaves gathered
As their silent prayer I overheard

“Give us not the pain of this world
But the pain of Your Merciful Love

Let your Love be our constant cry
Save us from the bread-only hurry

Ya Hayy!
Ya Qawiyy!
O Most high!
O our heart’s sigh!

O the stone of our souls’ ring-
Our tears are but Your Spring

The drops that on our cheeks run
Is dear than the rivers in the heaven

Suffice to us Your do’s
Save us from Your Don’ts

We bow
We pray
We say
But by Your sway!

Take not back not this fortune
Make us not like lifeless stone

We worshipped day and night
Not for once You came to sight

Never did we make a demand
That Your vision come to hand

Our hearts simply believed
The words of Your Beloved

Your Signs evident all over
Your Self apparent nowhere

Yet we call,

Ya Hayy!
Ya Qawiyy!
O Most high!
O our hearts’ sigh!

The drops that on our cheeks run
Is dear than the rivers in the heaven"
