[slm] Gosh...one wedding season seems to only just end, and then another one begins. So, fashion statements for winter weddings? There are 4 weddings that I will be attending in December, inshaAllah... and I am soooooo gonna run out of clothes again. I'm pulling through my mom's ancient clothes, because some of the stuff is coming back in ishtyle. I wish I could show you guys the outfit options. OMG maybe I should! I was thinking I should wear the same clothes to every wedding, every event. Talk about a fashion statement, lol. Also...what are good, unique, awesome wedding gifts that you can give to your close friends? Is it good etiquette to give a gift to both bride and groom, separately/ together ... or is it okay to just give to my friends (the brides)? Also...anyone have any hair & make-up tips. Or any health + beauty tips to make sure I look like I haven't lost 10 lbs once I get there. I won't ever hear the end of it...that's the worst bit. Thanks... Wasalaam. |

[wlm] I think we're way behind u guys in desi fashion by like a year i heard?, but what seems to be popular here now are pants and fancy shalwars with all the beading and zardosi design stuff. I think if you are a friend of the bride it is OK to give just her a gift, especially if she's a close friend. I'd always go with jewelery for a close friend. Hair and make up go with some streaks those are always cool and glitter mehndi in a simple design. Umm you want to look like you HAVENT lost 10 lbs??! Most ppl are tryin to look like they lost 10 lbs so can't help you there :) Have fun inshaAllah I'm going to a wedding this weekend too.. ultra desi... kinda scared |

the giving presents one is a strange one... a female friend of mine gave my husband and I separate presents but he was a bit funny about it, asking why I wasn't jealous that he'd got a present from a girl? so i guess it depends on the individuals. i personally would give something 'housey' but if it's a close friend you can't give them a set of cutlery. If I knew them both I'd want to get them both something, but I can guess what my husband would say about that! |

[slm] Where do you live? How cold will it be? My concern is your shoes ... if you live in a snowy place. Haha, as a sidenote, one of my cousins bought my sister a wedding gift on her wedding...it was wrapped beautifully, and he handed it to her right before the nikkah. When she opened it up, there were some running shoes in a box and a note that side "there's still time to reconsider" ... HAHAHA. So would you take other shoes with you? As for the present thing, Amelia...I really don't want to give a present to the grooms because I would feel hecka awkward doing that. But I don't want it to look bad. I was thinking of getting my friends the cool presents, and then getting the guys like a tie each or something. Or like a pair of socks hahaha. Wasalaam. |
