| [slm] don't know if this has already been discussed here MUSLIMAH IN PRISON For Killing A Rapist ..Eighteen Year-old Muslimah In Prison for Killing Rapist An 18 year-old in America has been charged of murder and is being held in a jail in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Hala Gabr, was just 17 and three weeks of turning 18, when her foster mother took her to Atlantic City, while she went into a casino. Hala was left by herself to see the sights. After a while, Hala called a cab to go back and meet up with her foster mother. The cab driver offered her $20. to have sex with her. When Hala refused, the cab driver pulled a knife on her and forced to a motel room where he raped her violently. Medical records proved that she was sexually violated. At some point during the whole ordeal, she hit the cab driver with a bottle and knocked him to the ground. As he went down, she reached for the knife and stabbed him 13 times. She hid his body in the bed under the mattress, cleaned up the room, drove off in his car and threw all of his belongings in a nearby stream. These items have been found, negating the prosecution's claim that she was stealing his belongings. Because she was so shocked by the whole incident, she got into a car accident, and was taken unconscious to a hospital. When she was revived, she fled to her father's house in Brooklyn (from where she originally escaped from abuse and thus put into a foster home). The police found her purse in the car and traced her there, where she was arrested. The rapist, authorities said, frequently picked up prostitutes and was known as a sexual predator in the Atlantic City area. Hala does not have a criminal record, and although she cannot get the death penalty because of her age at the time, she is subject to life without parole for 50 years. She is currently being held on $500,000 dollars bail. | [slm] · Her name is Haila Gabr, some news outlets misquoted her name · Second this case is a few years old. He couldn't confirm when this incident occurred but knows that is not a new case. · She was moved from Atlantic City jail to New Jersey State Prison. · Her sentence was reduced to about 8 years. | [wlm] I was thinking about this all the time. I want to write to her. But why do they put her there if they know from tests she was raped? Isn't it self-defense? don't they at least let her go if she gives them money until the trial in court date? |

| [slm] someone posted this on another forum, and then this news. I have no means of knowing whether it is a true story or not. No reason for me to doubt it. |
